Back to back to back 10 win years in the SEC warrants a raise and when you consider the following coaches have not done anything similar and neither did Nick Saban while at LSU. Tuberville, Richt, Spurrier, Meyer, etc
great point.
can someone find out the last time a SEC coach has done this before miles?

If you thought you may get the chance to go to your alma mater, one like Michigan and were interested in the job, but you also had a good job at the time, what would you say publicly?
He has to play his cards right. You and I, and everyone else here, would do the same thing.

I didn't do an extensive search but Spurrier did have that at UF in the 90's

but Saban did make it to where, if he doesn't say he is not interested, we know for sure he is interested
sucks because it leaves our players with doubt. I hope, out of respect, he at least told the players something.

Definitely in 95 and 96.
Also, those were 11 game seasons, not 12. And that was prior to SEC Champ game.

No, it wasn't.
And he won no less than 10 games from '93 to '98.
And we still have the opportunity to finish 12-2

Make it happen after the SEC Champ. game. Maybe your recruting won't suffer, but ours will waiting until after Jan when there is less than a month to hire a new coach and recruit. Many coaches do not coach bowl games.

The SEC Championship Game started in '92.

Every/any school will do what is right for them. What value is it to Mich, or Neb, or Tx A&M, or Miss, or any school to do what is right for LSU?
On the other hand, no one expects LSU to make its decisions based on any other criteria than what is good for LSU. What has Mich done, their coach retired. That's it! Mich did not/has not approached Les Miles, Mich did not speak with Les Miles' agent nor to the LSU AD. All have admitted as much.
This is a media thing, not a Mich thing. Mich did not put Miles' name in play. LSU did not put his name in play. Heck, Miles did not put his name in play. So who did? Pundits who need to stir the pot to make a living.
All Mich has said is that it wants a coach who will win with integrity (whatever that means). They have underscored that their three most outstanding coaches (Fielding Yost, Fritz Crisler and Bo) were not "Michigan men." Carr even emphasized that point in his press conference. Did the media focus on that and go looking for a non-Michigan man type to hype, NO! The easy thing was to pick on Les Miles because he has connections to the program, to Lloyd and to Bo.
This is big time/big money college football where media scrutiny is 24/7, that alone makes it uncomfortable for everyone looking to change directions, especially if the program(s) have national visibility.

you can't tell me Lloyd didn't know the roomers and how it would affect LSU and our MNC hopes.
He knew there would be a shite storm around Miles the second he announced retirement.
All I'm saying, Is it would have nice if he could have done us a favor and waited two weeks longer. Michigan's season is over. Two weeks wouldn't have made much of a difference in recruiting.

IF he doesn't win this weekend he will not go! Even the Miles supporters in Mich will agree he is not the best choice.

And again all Miles has to say is "I am not going to Michigan" and all the rumors will stop.

No, they wouldn't. The "Miles to UM" rumors won't stop until they hire someone.

Again, it's not going to happen because it would hurt his bargaining position with LSU. Because of the ridiculous pressure put upon college coaches to win at all costs, they have to make their money while they can. Today's hero is tomorrow's goat. Just the way it is

It's too late for that now. I agree with Rocket. He didn't make a SOLID statement about this situation last Monday, because in his heart, he knew that he WOULD take the job if it was offered. I think that is sad, and that he does feel very bad about the whole thing. He is obviously emotional about it! The worst part of it for LSU and this team, is that by trying to "play" the coach's typical response, and "make a statement" that really said nothing, it gave the perception that the National Championship dream somehow fell (if even very slightly) behind the Head Coach at Michigan dream...This job scenerio HAS been a distraction, and will continue to be so. It's just nature. Is anyone still questioning Stoops about that job? No! Because he made a SOLID statement about it. Les didn't, and that's where he stands. From about halfway through his first season, I decided that I liked having Coach Miles at LSU. I have never thought he was a bad coach, and have never hesitated to argue in his defense all over the rant, but he laid an egg on the NC dream last Monday, IMO.
