As I recall, he ran a more open O at Okie State. Reminds me of John Cooper- open at Az State then conservative at Ohio State.
I think these coaches figure that if you have the best players, that a spread can only diminish your talent advantage.
At UH, he may have best talent in AAC, but not against his OOC schedule so I could see him spreading it.

Yes, and he's still trying to figure out how to run double tight ends and a fullback in the spread.
