I really don’t care if you agree with it. Letting him coach the game is stupid

Do you really want your leader of young men to be a guy that quits on his team during a championship run to pursue his personal goals? I don’t

Eta: If he makes a verbal agreement to finish the season then work on his contract with LSU and holds true to his commitment, that’s the character you want. If he bails on you or his team, frick that guy, you don’t want him anyway

I want LSU’s coach to be focused on LSU and a clear direction presented for early signing period.

I don’t care about Ole Miss

You don’t leave your team hanging like this if you intend to stay. The absolute best way to get your team focused on the next game and on the playoffs is to sign an extension and put all of this to bed. There is absolutely no reason for this if you’re going to stay and coach your team through the playoffs.

He’s absolutely going. To where I have no idea. But the LK era at OM is over.

I’ve said since the beginning he likely stays, and I’ve said the way Ole Miss really gets him to stay is to be patient and drag this out into the post season.

Having him win their rivalry game and get his team to the playoffs is their best chance of getting him to realize he’s in a good spot. LSU and UF needed to apply pressure and get him out of Oxford sooner than later.

Like I said, if LSU thinks they have him they better have plan B on speed dial and ready to move quickly after next Friday, because this can go either way.

I agree.. In my opinion, Carter making that statement made things worse for OM and their fans. Why make a statement at all? Just don’t know why he would make that statement, unless he is just not that smart

If he was staying why would they have to wait until after the egg bowl to make that announcement?

What benefit does that give OM? They want to intentionally have rumors and drama swirling around their team leading up to a major game with huge implications on their playoff seeding/birth?

Make that make sense if you don’t mind!

Ole Miss sure isn’t going to run him off for flirting with better jobs.

They can’t run him off without owing him a buyout. All of the discussions had likely been with Sexton and his minions. His family went to BR and Gainesville, not him. They don’t have cause, so Lane has all of the leverage over them. If he wants to coach this game and then leave, there’s not much OM can do about it.

I suppose Keith Carter could suspend Kiffin for the Egg Bowl. However, if he did that and they lost- he would never shake that. By keeping Kiffin to finish the string, even if he loses he can say that he did all he could to win that game. Things would have to get dramatic and ugly this week for him to have true justification for that.

Why make the statement at all?? It has created way more talk and anxiety with their own fan base.
