And that was with peak lazy Kelly playing golf and scratching his balls. I’m all-in on Kiffin, but how did we manage the #1 portal class last year?

I think the defensive staff played a role. Look at the most impactful portal players we had. Other than Moore- all the rest were on the defensive side. And the 3 most impactful on the team were easily Delane, Halsey and Gooden.

We spent a lot of money on several offensive players who looked good on paper, but didn’t fit or pan out. A lot of that falls on Kelly for not supervising that side more thoroughly.

Ole Miss fans are unhinged and need serious help...not just online...I have interacted with them in person. They are beyond butthurt

Boy are they. I live in North MS and occasionally work in a few towns that are full of Ole Myth fans. I know if I’m wearing LSU gear, I’m going to have random people coming up to me to talk shite. Some of it is good natured, but some of it is also crazy ex bullshite. It will only get worse after this portal cycle.

The ironic thing is that I also work in Nashville a good bit and UT fans are still pretty butthurt about Kiffin after all these years. I was at a sports bar in Bellevue watching the OM-Miami Semi-Final game and I was the only person in the bar not cheering for Ole Miss, but not one person in there was in red and blue. They were all UT fans bandwagoning. They were going crazy after every positive play.

A few were doing the SEC thing, but several of them said it was out of spite toward Kiffin. One of them who was drunk off his arse came over and sat next to me to tell me what a snake Kiffin is. I just told him I couldn’t care less as long as he wins games. He ended up not being too much of an a-hole after we talked for a minute, but it was just crazy to see UT fans still getting so riled up about him.

The ones who weren’t talking were passive aggressive as hell. There was one guy with a UT hat sitting next to me who asked if I was cheering for Ole Miss since I had an LSU shirt and hat on. I told him, as much as I have loathed Miami my entire life, absolutely not. I don’t ever cheer for SEC rivals. He immediately got up and went to sit by the other UT fans. High school shite. Everyone there froze me out except for the drunk guy, which made it really fricking awesome when Miami came back at the end. Even the bartender noticed and thought it was funny.
I get him giving his former coach a shot. Nothing wrong with that.
Oh shite. This one will get them going, even if he doesn’t come here

Hard to see where the connection would be with this one. With him having a do not contact tag that usually means hes already worked out a deal. Not sure that would be us unless there is a previous connection that I do not know about.

Today that only means that the agent has limited the field. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.

If Lane doesn’t care to play the Seaton sweepstakes, this guy would be a great option as a lock down LT. He’s got a lot less hype, but the grades are rock solid.

This here. What I wanna hear is …. what sense does it make to have the Winter Classic in Florida? SOUTH Florida …. and outside. What’s the ice like for THAT game?

That’s what I wondered as soon as I saw the first commercial for that game. Those Ice Chillers are going to be working overtime.
I’m sure he wanted him to grab or tip the ball. He had to work hard to not touch it there, which would have either knocked it away or possibly run out the clock.

But if you’re going to do that, you have to have a guy come in behind him to challenge shot if the ball gets through. Even if it means pulling your guy off the inbounder.
No, but it doesn’t matter. We all know he’s not good enough.
Clark is a smart upside swing who likely didn’t cost us much. As I’ve said before, before the COVID year and portal, he likely would have been a G5 starter who either did the old school transfer and sat a year, or played a 2nd season and became a grad transfer.

But none of this means he would have been a legit candidate to be our starter next season.

The cost to build, operate, maintain, and participate is enormous. The electric and insurance is mind blowing, and that is just for starters.

This. I’ve programmed the systems for 2 pro sports arenas in the past and can tell you that Hockey is a total pain in the arse and extremely expensive in terms of energy usage. Any time an application requires maintaining indoor temps below 68 and low humidity, you are talking about spending big to make that happen, especially when you get to Spring and early Summer in the South. If you don’t do it just right, you get fog on the ice or ice melt.

And that’s just the HVAC. The low temp chillers to maintain the ice slab are also expensive to run and maintain and are completely separate from the HVAC Central Plant. Because of all this, adding Hockey would drive up the cost on the new arena mechanical systems quite a bit.

Considering the crowds you would expect at a southern school, the sport would never have a shot at breaking even at LSU and could be a huge loser. It just doesn’t make sense financially.

The fact that Arizona State has a team has been mentioned. I can tell you from talking to people who work at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas that Hockey is much less expensive to operate makes a lot more sense out West. They don’t have to worry about the same expensive dehumidification that teams in the South do, and that’s where a lot of the expense is. That takes a lot of the operational cost burden off the arenas and teams.

All these NHL teams ( Dallas, Florida, Nashville, Charlotte. NC) have players from Canada, Russia, extreme northern US. Your whole team would be from another country.

Some of them are working to change this. My company does a lot of work for the Preds and Bridgestone Arena and has a sponsorship agreement. We also do work in two of their satellite buildings in Antioch and Bellevue. They are putting in multiple municipal rinks to work on growing the game and getting more kids here playing it.

It’s a long-term effort, but if nothing else, it’s solidifying support for Hockey in their metro area. And it may eventually result in some kids starting to make it to college and the pros from
pockets of the South.

Have you heard of the Dallas Stars? Florida Panthers?

It’s VERY location-based. Those 2, Tampa and Nashville have really embraced NHL Hockey. Meanwhile, Atlanta has lost 3 different teams over 50 years. And minor league teams come and go throughout the South. It’s just how it is.

This doesn’t even touch on the Title 9 issue. Men’s and Women’s sports have to be in balance, so if we started an NCAA Hockey program, another men’s sport like Golf would have to go away, or we would have to add another women’s sport, which is adding 2 money-losing sports. Not the best idea.

Cayden Lee coming?

Now that’s a trade any of us would do any day and twice on Sundays. He hasn’t re-uped with OM yet and some of their media thought he would be entering the portal.

And Nic Anderson was not exactly a world beater last year. In fact I’d say he was maybe the biggest disappointment of our entire portal signing class.

I like Anderson’s potential in this offense if he can finally get healthy. But we also paid him well last year from what I understand and for basically nothing, so I don’t think we can say it’s a huge loss.

It is a little off that he waited this long to enter the portal. Makes me wonder if he wanted to stay and they just didn’t hit the number he was looking for. If that’s the case, he’s gone. This staff only re-negotiates with certain guys who hit the portal and I don’t feel like he will be one of them.

Simpson knows this draft class is one of the worst ever. He's taking advantage of it. It's the same reason that Chambliss shouldn't blink twice about entering this year. Next year's draft class is much better.

I agree. While he may sacrifice a few bucks today, he will still be paid very well, will undoubtedly go higher in the draft, but most importantly, he starts the clock on a more lucrative 2nd contract a year early if he succeeds.

This is even more of a head-scratcher for Chambliss. If he stays for a 6th season, he will be 3 of 4 years older than his top QB competition heading to the NFL. If he does succeed, that’s 1 less year of top NFL earning potential, which would be much more than what he’s being paid for a 6th season in college. And this is completely independent of the risk of injury or hurting his draft stock by not meeting or exceeding this years’ results. Just look at Nuss as proof of this.
quote:

Both teams were absolute trash. This is the least talked about relevant thing this year. Go watch it again and pretend youd want eitner offensive staff in charge of any part of your program. I have not gotten anyone to actually be willing to talk about that shite show to this day.

That game was before Chambliss really got rolling. He looked pretty bad in the first quarter and had several inaccurate throws in the 2nd half.

Our offense was an absolute joke vs a defense that couldn’t stop the run all season.

Chambliss will 100% be the QB at Ole Miss next year. They will get an injunction and drag it out in court while he plays the year then drop the case. That's happened before already. I hope I am wrong as an LSU but if I am an Ole Miss fan I ain't sweating if Chambliss is back

We’ll see. The Ole Myth judge will 100% rubber stamp this no matter what. But If the appeal is heard and they get a judge who isn’t an Ole Myth grad, they could have some issues the second time around.

Seemed to matter to Desmond Williams...

Less to him than the schools that were interested. Once it became clear the buyout in the contract would likely hold up in court and that there could be a rev share hit for that same amount the following year, his market dried up immediately. No one was paying that for him.

But that was the Big 10’s boilerplate agreement. Who knows if others would be as effective.

I am humbly asking you to add the Apple logo as a selectable flag for TigerDroppings. I don't know if it presents a copyright issue, but I’d love to hear from you if adding the Apple logo as a selectable flag is possible.

I hope Chicken can get you the Apple flag.

I don’t use my iPad Pro quite as much as I used to, but I’ve had an iPad most of the time since the original was released. I actually wrote a for a few Apple sites off and on from 2010 until 2021 for free review gear and very little pay, so I definitely appreciate the screen name.

Keep up the good work. Most of us really appreciate you keeping all of the portal info very organized.

Sounds good. Jay Ward took a couple of years, but he was a 3 star that Raymond molded into an NFL player. They don’t all work out, but he knows what he’s looking for.
