Florida St, Miami, VA Tech are not leaving the ACC. Just forget about it!!! Unless they are giving a deal that is just good to pass up, they are not coming to the SEC.

That's why WVU is a rather obvious choice. Other reasonable choices would include Kansas State, Louisville, & Missouri.

We may have a chance with Oklahoma and OSU would probably consider, but it's a long shot. They would be better served to go out west. The PAC fits their style of play much better. Texas hates Louisiana & LSU too much to come into the SEC.

I honestly think our best chances are with NC State. Not sure they are any better than WVU, but that's just me.

Would love to have them. Have played them more times than anyone else except Clemson and UGA.

Yeah, I just don't really see FSU at all. They are just getting back to the national stage, so why screw all of that up to come get banged up in the SEC?

Miami has bigger issues.

VA Tech can't leave the ACC unless UVA comes with them. POINT BLANK!!!

Pulling a team from the east is going to be extremely difficult because we will have to pull from the ACC more than likely with WVU being the only other choice. I don't think the ACC is going to let the SEC come in and take one of their teams.

People really need to get past the ACC teams.

Don't be shocked if Louisiville is the 14th team!!!

Really, it not that far of a stretch. Considering its location, great baskteball school, average football program, and great hc in Charlie Strong.

Plus, it's a natural rivalry.

Urban commuter schools don't belong in the SEC.

You don't invite a University to your conference based on current athletic prowess, even less the current head coach. This is a century long marriage we're looking into. Louisville simply isn't up to par.

I know I'm going a bit out of the box, but everyone else is on this FSU, VA Tech, OU trip!!!

These schools are not coming to the SEC, so while I may seem to be reaching with Louisville, so is everyone on this message board with FSU, VA Tech, OU, OSU, or Texas.

What happens if aTm joins the SEC as the 13th member and all of the following schools refuse to join as the 14th member?

(Preferred List)
VA Tech
FSU
Clemson
NC State
Miami
GA Tech
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas

That leaves us with the following:
(Non-preferred List)
Missouri
Kansas State
West Virginia
South Florida
Louisiville
Houston

Which of the following remaining schools would you prefer? Based on this message board, none of those schools are preferred.

So, unless one of the schools in the "Preferred List" shocks the world , we are looking at adding a school from the "Non-preferred List".

Your thoughts?

I think this is totally overblown and just flat out wrong. In fact, I've seen the opposite. The fact that UVA didn't want Va Tech in the ACC in the first place suggests that UVA isn't going to go out of there way to stop Va Tech unless Va Tech leaving means the ACC implodes. The ACC will be fine without Va Tech and can simply raid the Big East for a team.

Next up to bat would be NC State which would be a nice addition. The bottom line is that ANY addition that breaks up the current SEC West/East divisions should be avoided at all costs.

Isn't there some kind of legislation that prevents VA Tech from being separated from UVA?

the UVa-VaTech deal has been very overblown. at the time, I was living in Virginia and had a close friend that was very involved in the process. first point, UVa President was supportive of VT, but thought there was a couple UVA Board of Visitors (governing authority for Va schools) that might not support VT. however, one of UVA's Board, a Richmond billionaire, was very supportive of VT because he was an undergrad of the school. In VA, all of the BOV are appointed by the Governor. The Richmond billionaire engaged the Governor, who immediately saw the political benefits of getting involved. The Governor simply notified all of the UVA BOV that they worked for him and he wanted VT in the ACC. With that support, the UVA President was able to hold the expansion hostage to get VT included. My friend was working for Gov. Mark Warner's campaign for U.S. Senate, and they even polled the issue. It played huge in SW Virginia which normally votes heavily Republican. It is very doubtful that the current Virginia governor will get involved. I understand that he's told the VPI BOV that it is their decision. And the UVa BOV isn't concerned.

Here's another write up of the story. LINK The politics were heavy, but they were campaign politics which is a different animal.
