As much as I despise their fans I think they run a classy program there. Even if you hate OSU for their bowl performance or national hype Jim Tressel is a classy guy.

Yeah, I agree that OSU runs a classy program and Jim Tressel is a good man. I also think Ohio State has beefed up their OOC schedule. But I still like to bag on them! I used to think Michigan ran a classy program until they pushed Lloyd Carr out of the way and brought in that scumbag Rich Rod. But the main point of this thread is the bitterness with Texas. I used to think Texas ran a classy program but I have a different opinion now. I think they have gone gangster over there and pick up and turn the other members of their conference upside down and shake them until all their money falls out like a big bully. And like any bully, they don't mess with the people, in this case teams, that can fight back which would be Texas A&M and OU.

Texas is a bunch of Puddin Pops!! Look if they think they are a Elite program that has an opportunity to play against some of the best comp in the country why not join the SEC or the Pac1. It has only one 1 nation champ in like 40 years. The odds of them winning one in the SEC or Pac1 would extend that 40 yrs to 80 or infinity. Texas fans are just scared to admit that they enjoy beating up Puddin pops + OU every year instead of playing against 3-4 top 15 teams a year! Grats Texas maybe just join the Sunbelt or the Southland and petition the NCAA to grant a BCS birth and then you guys could guarantee a birth in the BCSNCG but you might sputter when u play Nicholls!!

How is it Ohio State's fault that they have subpar conference opponents? At least they've scheduled some decent OOC games the last few years. They played Texas, USC, Miami this year and next then they will play a home and home with OU. As much as I despise their fans I think they run a classy program there. Even if you hate OSU for their bowl performance or national hype Jim Tressel is a classy guy.

Broad brush you're painting with there.

When I've gotten to meet OSU fans up in Ann Arbor and around the country I have gotten along with yall. But until I meet a Buckeye in person I assume negative things. In your case I do judge a book by its cover.

Back to Texas. I view the Longhorns in the same way I view Wall Street during the subprime mortage lending. The top dogs abused the little guy and in the short term it was good, money was rolling in. In the long term it blew up in their face and now the Securities and Exchange Commision is dropping the hammer on those guys. Much in the same way the South Eastern Conference will drop the hammer on Texas in the BCS and TV revenue.

OSU fans are just like every other fanbase, you have 95% good (or at least reasonable), 5% bad. There's just a HUGE number of us, so, therefore, there will be more bad, as well (i.e. the Youtube stuff).

I agree 100% with you. Texas may be smiling now, I don't think they will in 5-10 years.

I agree 100% with this. Most fan-bases are rabbit and crazy, but treat opposing fans with respect win or lose. It is that 5% of most fan-bases that give them a bad name(IE piss balloons).

Let me tell you a story of Wellington Mara.
quote:

During the early 1960s, Wellington and his brother Jack, the owners of the NFL's largest market, agreed to share television revenue on a league-wide basis, dividing the amounts of money available in cities like New York with smaller market teams such as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers. That concept of revenue sharing allowed the NFL to grow and is still being used today. This is certainly Mara's lasting contribution to his game.

This allowed the NFL to grow and be competitive and make it more interesting to fans and raised more money. For the antithesis, just look at Texas. The University of Texas wants the largest share of money which keeps the conference weak over all. And people wonder why the Big XII was so easy to plunder and why teams were in a rush to leave.
I'm sure Texas sits high upon its Big XII thrown and asks why anyone would want to leave. When someone says those teams were hungry for more revenue, UT said, "Let them eat cake."

Wake up UT.

DocBugbear,

Do you have any "Wassup" relationship advice for Bevo?

I think you should send a letter now that we are hearing Uncle Jerry is courting Arky.
