Hasn’t Etienne had injury issues in the past?
Todd McShay Talks NFL Combine & Draft with Rich Eisen
Posted by Suntiger on 3/3/26 at 7:54 am
I thought this deserved its own thread as they talk about the combine results and how players performed. It was also interesting to hear them talk about how the best players are not necessarily at the premium positions this year.
Some of the things they discussed:
- Todd said the best players in the draft are a guard, safety, off the ball linebacker and a running back.
- The theme from the GMs was there are blue chip prospects but it’s at positions that you usually don’t use a premium draft pick on.
- One GM said you have to have a plan for Arvell Reese because he’s good up the field, but not necessarily a turn and run LBer.
- Talks about the super high character of Sonny Styles and Jeremiyah Love.
- One GM said this draft will force people to be in line with their coaches and coordinators because there’s a lot of talented players that need to fit in the right scheme.
- Said Raiders are taking Mendoza and Jets are taking a defensive player and he doesn’t think Love gets out of the top 5.
- Said Fano had great energy, but has short arms, he took some snaps at center and might have to kick in to Center and Mauigoa might have to kick into guard. If that’s the case, just take Olaivavega Ioane who is better than both as an IOL. Like HOF projection worthy. Said Ioane is likely one of the top 5 best players in the draft.
- Said Ty Simpson’s tape is probably better than Mendoza’s tape. But Mendoza had a better year and traits. But it’s those two and then a big gap between the next QB.
- Mentioned Jeff Caldwell at WR and his performance at the combine. Also talked about Sam Roush, the 6’6” TE from Stanford who is the best blocking TE in the draft who had a good workout. Also talked about Malachi Lawrence, the EDGE out of UCF who is rising and will likely be a top 100 pick.

Give me any of these guys and I’d be happy!

I’ve been pretty anti Bain in a lot of threads and ruffled some feathers and while I don’t think he’s a God awful pick I think he’s a guy that comes in and just sorta blends in. I don’t see him being the game changer/ o line wrecking crew that a lot of posters here anticipate.
quote:
I’m starting to think we end up with Styles or Love at 8. I feel like one of those two fall to us and I think if somehow they’re both available we would go Styles.
I’d be okay with those. I’d like to get Styles as a Demario Davis replacement if he signs elsewhere.
quote:
Love is a home-run hitter; if he gets in the secondary, he's gone.
That’s what the video talks about. Jeanty is a good RB, but they talk about how he was hit in the backfield most of the time and had no chance.
quote:
You can fix your oline between free agency and day 2 of the draft.
Ohhh…I didn’t know it was that easy. Seriously though, our OL is trash.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t draft Love. But if we do we better be prepared to overpay for a guard in FA and spend significant draft capital on IOL and TE in the draft. Fixing an OL is like steering an oil tanker, not a speed boat. You don’t turn it around in an instant.
At minute 14:10 they start talking about RBs going to teams like the Titans and Daniel Jeremiah talks about how teams need to have infrastructure before picking a RB. I think that’s our problem. We have a good LT, an average RT, the worst guards in the NFL and an injury prone center. Not to mention, only one legit WR threat.
It might just be too early to get the special RB.

My thoughts too. We are going to be staring at a Bain, Tate, Fano come pick 8
I’d be looking for Love or Delane at that point.
I think Mendoza, Bailey & Reese go before our pick. Besides that, it’s kind of a crapshoot at the moment. Safety doesn’t typically go that high so Downs may fall to us. Guys like Fano, Mauigoa, Bain and Tate don’t have good numbers so they might slide. Lemon reportedly had terrible interviews so he might slide. Styles and Love had great numbers so they might move up.
It’ll be interesting to see where things shake out the next few weeks. Especially after free agency.

Geno Smith or Murray would definitely be an upgrade at QB2 over Carson Wentz.
When you QB conversation centers around JJ McCarthy, Kyler Murray, Geno Smith, Carson Wentz, Tua and Kirk Cousins…you are absolutely fricked!
If I was them, I’d be trying like hell to trade for Mac Jones or trade pick 18 for a late 20 and early 3rd rounder and draft Ty Simpson and Nussmier/Allar/Jalon Daniels/Taylon Green. And those aren’t great options either.
quote:
They need to bring in a veteran to compete against JJ. This is a very weak QB draft, so nothing wrong with going after one of these guys. Murray could do well on a team like the Vikings.
Murray is terrible. He was benched for Jacoby fricking Brissett. JJ is terrible. The roster outside of QB is very good. That will put a lot of pressure on the coach and front office. The fanbase is already frustrated and bringing in a low level QB to compete with another low level QB will only frustrate them more. Unfairly, that will put the coach on the hot seat after Justin Jefferson becomes rightfully disgruntled.
quote:
Fowler: I've also heard that the Vikings are considering Murray and Smith as they outline their veteran quarterback plan. Tua Tagovailoa and Cousins are also on their radar.
So some Vikings coaches will be available in a year or two. Good to know. Yeesh!

There are a lot of good not great WRs in this draft IMO.
Boston, Bell, Brazzell, Germie Bernard, CJ Daniels, Skyler Bell, Malachi Fields, Sarratt, Omar Cooper, KC Concepcion, Ja’Kobi Lane, Thompson, Hurst, Bryce Lance, etc will all go later rounds and are solid WR options.
And while guys like Tyson, Tate and Lemon are the big names, I don’t think they are worth the premium of a top 10 pick over the WRs listed above.

Ristorante Pensavo Peggio on Via del Moro in Florence was amazing. Stumbled into this place and it was great food in a cozy little are. Lot of locals coming in and out picking up food. We got Wild boar and lasagna and tiramisu and it was great. The bread soup looked good too.
Gelateria Artigianale La Sorbettiera Was the best gelato we had in Italy.
We did the Florence Sunset Food Tour with Eating Europe in Florence. I would highly recommend. Stopped at several little delis, and restaurants and heard good food history in a non-touristy area.

re: Carnell Tate listed Shough as a QB he'd want to catch passes from

I’ve moved on from getting a WR at 8. This draft is deep at receiver and the top guys (like Tate), don’t seem special.
That’s been my thought all along. There will be some guy like an Amon-ra St. Brown, Puca, or someone that gets drafted later that will be special. But there’s no Jamar Chase, Malik Nabers or CeeDee Lamb WR that should be a top-10 type pick. If a guy like Boston, D. Burks, CJ Daniels, M. Fields, etc falls to you in a later round, then that’s a great addition at a good value. No need to reach at 1.8.

1.8 seems really high for a TE. And while I agree that TE needs to be upgraded, I feel like the front office likes J. Johnson.

Are we just a China invasion of Taiwan away from official WW3? Or do we need people teaming up to get this party started also?
I like how we alienated our biggest allies before starting WW3. Bold move indeed.

Removing a player bc of measurables when he was a top five talent 24 hours ago is stupid
My bigger concern is his performance during the year. During the season he did little and wasn’t much of a factor in games I watched. Then he dominated against aTm and tOSU. Then he disappeared in the Ole Miss game and was just okay against Indiana. That plus his measurables is why I’m out.
I tried to make it to the celebration but got stuck in traffic.
re: Javonte Williams contract is why Love should not be the pick at 8
Posted by Suntiger on 2/25/26 at 12:55 pm to GynoSandberg
Trading down is tricky. If Downs, Love, Tate and Delane are on the board and you can trade down two or three spots, that’s a no brainer. Once you get to guys like Faulk, Tyson or Woods, questions start to emerge and I wouldn’t want questions. I want to get as sure a thing as I can get with the first pick.
re: Recommendations for Italy
Posted by Suntiger on 2/25/26 at 7:56 am to Rob Perillo
The train trip from Rome to Florence is nothing special IMO. It’s not like Switzerland where you really see the countryside.
We flew into Rome, stayed 4 days, stayed in Venice 1 night and Florence 2 nights. Rome is great for 3 or maybe 4 days. We wish we would have spent more time in Florence though. Florence really needs to be its own trip. I would absolutely recommend Pompeii. That and Florence were our favorite parts of our Italy trip.

That’s an insane price! We stayed one night at an Airbnb outside of Vik one night and it was fine. We stayed at the Hilton Reykjavík Nordica the rest of the week and took day trips from there in our rental car. That was in July and prices weren’t near that bad. Gas was the most expensive thing. When I realized I was paying by the liter instead of the gallon, I just stopped paying attention to the price altogether.
Iceland is amazing though. Caves, volcanos, glaciers, waterfalls, waterfalls, waterfalls, crystal clear delicious water, geysers, hot springs, oceans, black sand beaches, cliffs, etc. etc. etc. I’ve described it as raw nature and it’s beautiful!
