I think your chart is actually proving opposite of what you think it says. Bains arm length almost puts him off that chart he’s such an outlier. And the bell curve or most successful quadrant is to the upper right. Bain is extreme left.

Isn't arm length incredibly important for run D from DL?

Yes, which makes him a liability there. But he has some power and elite run recognition. I think he can at least make that part of his game work for him.

I think long armed OTs will be able to keep his bull rush at bay, and he’s not a speed guy who can get around guys. I think that severely limits his prospects of being a pass rusher.

Unless of course he’s playing against Will Campbell.

I think Bain would do better as an outside rusher in a 3-4 scheme than an on the line rusher from the DE spot.

I disagree with this part. Bain is short and squat and would be better as a LDE in a 4-3 or maybe a DE in a 5 man front. He doesn’t have the speed, length, bend to get around a LT consistently. His go to move is a bull rush and he does well in recognition in run support.

That’s why I think he will be a better run stuffing, edge setting DE than a pass rushing OLB.

I think Bain falls to 9 or out of the top 10. I’ve just seen too many mocks with him falling. I think he will be a good run stopping, edge setting DE. I just don’t think he will be a game wrecker or anything.

This is the correct answer. First time I went to Charleston I said, “Huh, this is what all these houses are supposed to look like.”
I think the consensus is that Love, Downs and Ioane are the best players in the draft, followed by Styles and Reese. The issue is that S, LBer, and especially IOL have never been high draft picks because of positional value. RB kinda is kinda isn’t.

It will be interesting to see what happens with these players and how much talent vs. position comes into it.

I’ve also heard McShay and a few others say there will be a huge run on OTs at the end of the draft and that they expect 7-9 OT/OGs to go in the first round and only 3, maybe 4, WRs to go in the first.

He played well in the playoffs (and this is coming from someone who wants nothing to do with Bain at 8).

My issue with Bain is consistency of production, his measurables, and the fact that he avoided speed/agility tests like the fricking plague.

I do like his motor, but I am not drafting a guy at 8 because he has a motor. There are too many flags that scream bust potential for ME at 8. If the FO and coaching staff love him at 8, then I will definitely hope for the best and cheer for the guy……..but I will definitely be screaming I told you so if he’s a bust

I hope I’m wrong if he is the pick though

Agree with all this.

I don’t think he will be a bust. I just think he will be a good edge setting run defender that will have issues playing against high level technicians. He won’t get a lot of sacks. He likely won’t get tons of pressures. He’s just limited. That’s not what I want at pick 8.
ESPN was talking about this today. The analyst comments were that he as missed 1/3 of his games and you usually don’t get healthier when you move up to a 17 game season and have tougher competition.

One analyst did say that some guys learn how to take care of themselves better in the pros, but that many injuries is concerning.

There’s been some people questioning his “toughness” recently too. I think McShay did a really good breakdown below. The ASU coach has come out the past day or so clapping back on that narrative. So it’s a legit concern.

Inflation increased to 3.3%.

Why in TF should we lower interest rates?!?!

having a game changing defensive edge that consistently gets pressure on oposing QBs, forces him to throw sooner. thus making bad decisions. you only need average cornerback in this scenario

Bain is the pick if he is there of those 3.

That’s not who Bain is at all. Bain is a short squat edge setting DE that doesn’t consistently get sacks and his short stature will limit him further in that area in the future.

The guy you described is Reese and Bailey who are pass rushing OLB who can bend and get to the QB.

We already have a guy in Chase who gets “pressures”. I want a finisher. A winner. A guy who can sack the QB. A Hutchinson, Garrett, or Watt.

Again, Bain is Warren Martin or Frank Warren. Bailey and Reese are Pat Swilling.

Yates: We wanted bold, so how about this: Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. will go outside the top 12 picks. Bain is an exceptional player, and there is no shortage of teams with a pass rush need to pick in the first 12 spots. But he is going to be an outlier in the first round, as the first edge rusher with sub-31-inch arms to get picked there. There are some scouts who are skeptical of a team taking an outlier super early. The teams that could take a chance are the Saints, Chiefs and Bengals (Nos. 8-10, respectively), but there's a chance he's still there in the teens.

Seems word is out the Jets favor Bailey at 2.

Where are you seeing that? Most mocks I’ve seen and podcasts, stories, etc. has the Jets taking Reese at 2. NFL Mock Draft Database

The Jets are projected to take Arvell Reese from Ohio State at No. 2, and they could use him as a hybrid edge rusher/linebacker.
No.

Jets are going with Reese or Bailey. Consensus is that it will be Reese so Davis can mentor him to take over for him when he retires.

A good idea would be to let them accumulate more and build nukes.

We didn’t hit any of the Uranium deposits. And we “obliterated” their nuclear deposits last year didn’t we? So why start this war? It seems like all we did was prove we can’t stop Iran from controlling the spigot of energy to the rest of the world and that we don’t have the will to stick out a war.

Sure would be nice if we had allies to call on to help us out. Too bad we decided to alienate and start an economic war with them.

Edge is premium position so I see us going for Bain (I prefer Bailey but he'll be gone).

Edge might be a premium position, but Bain is not a premium prospect. He will be a run stuffing, edge setting DE. Not a pass rushing specialist.

But if there is doubt about Bain then go Delane or Downs.

I’d prefer Downs, then Delane, then Tate, then Lemon, then Vega Ioane, then Fano, then Bain if he’s left after those guys.
Mendoza is going to the Raiders.

I think everyone agrees that the Jets will take Reese or Bailey. Most seem to think it will be Reese.

The cardinals are a wildcard. They can go in almost any direction and might even trade the pick.

Titans seem like they could go Love, Styles or WR. I’d guess Love or WR to help out Cam Ward.

Giants could go several different ways. Love, Styles, Downs, WR or OL. I feel like they are set with Burns and Carter at Edge so they wouldn’t go with Bailey or Bain.

Cleveland and Washington are toss ups. I have no idea what they do.

There’s too many bad points to address. So I just downvoted and am posting this picture.

The guy at the end said he’d pick Bain over Bailey b/c he’s one of the smartest players recognition lineman he’s ever scouted.

Yes he did. But he also talked about how his smaller size limits his upside. He also talked about Bailey’s lack of recognition as a reason he prefers Bain.

I think Bain would be good as a DE in a 4-3 who will be good at setting the edge, being a good run stopper and occasionally getting pressures. He won’t be a stud pass rusher though. When you’re picking top 10, you want a Parsons, Myles Garrett or Hutchinson, not Tyree Wilson.

Been a rough couple of months. It looks like BTC has found a stabilizing price in the high 60K, low 70K range. BITO hovering around 9.25 in that time period. Since hitting a low of $8.80 it’s topped out at $10.25. Currently sits around $9.15.
