Update: Article written by the guy I linked in the OP. LINK
The most interesting quote...

The Pac-12 might expand, and soon. But it isn't going to do anything that's seen as bringing in a new school and providing it with special rules or preferential treatment. Nope, not even Texas.

maybe they will stick to this.... if they dont, texas will collapse the pac-12 just like they did to the swc and the big-8.....

If the shifts start coming fast and furious, Texas' bargaining position becomes weaker and weaker. Before, when everyone was moving slowly, it was each conference trying to woo Texas. Now it seems that some conferences are coming to the conclusion that Texas isn't worth the trouble. And if Texas keeps all the revenue, what value have they added to you? And it's not like the Pac-12 needs a new media deal.

This is the Pac-12 telling Texas that they want Texas, but they don't need Texas. So prepare to negotiate the LHN.

they have a 3rd: keep the big12 and add some shite teams if OU/OSU leave

That might be their best option. The Longhorn XII would be like the ACC when Florida State first joined--one powerhouse plus its stooge teams.

And there are plenty of MWC and CUSA teams who would put up with the sips to get into an AQ conference.

Exactly. I really hope the Pac-12 doesn't cave in. I think Larry Scott might try to accommodate Texas a bit, but the Pac-12 presidents won't have any of it.

One little known fact to a lot of us was that Stanford blocked UT's attempt to join the Pac12 in 1993? or whatever year it was the SWC fell apart and the Big 12 was formed.

UT put feelers out to Pac10 that year and Stanford was the only one opposed. It required a unanimous vote so it was 9-1 and blocked.

I understand under the new format it no longer requires unanimous vote to accept members, maybe 75%. Not sure if Utah and RockyMoutainHigh get a vote yet.
