This topic is inspired by MrSEC's post early today:

There are secondhand reports from the Show Me State that a move to push Missouri into the SEC has begun within the Tiger fanbase. We’ve received a number of emails from Mizzou fans claiming that MU’s chancellor might’ve put himself in some hot water by working so hard to save the Big 12… while an opportunity to move to the Texas-less SEC was on the table. We’re not saying that this is accurate or not, we’re just pointing out that the pro-SEC vibe seems to be growing across the Mississip. This is what happened at Texas A&M, if you recall. Aggie brass voted last summer to stay in the Big 12, but the more they and their fans thought about the potential of an SEC jump, the more it seemed like a smart idea. Tiger fans may be experiencing that same moment of enlightenment right now.

Whatever Missouri wants to do they should be talking to OU (and therefore Ok State) about it as well

All three programs benefit from (if not depend on) recruiting in Texas. Joining the SEC with A&M would maintain a Texas presence (esp for OU if they kept playing Texas as an ooc game) but they would be playing a lot fewer games per year against schools from Texas ... and that has to have an impact on their recruiting in Texas at some point.

If the SEC wants you as #14, with the uncertainty with the Big 12, they would be stupid not to take it and I could see OU taking it and leaving everyone else in the cold including OSU.

So what if Missouri struggles in the SEC initially, eventually your program will get better and you will compete just as USC and Ark have done.

I'd love for Mizzou to go to the SEC only to see LSU every other year in Columbia, but other than that I don't think they make a good fit. I'd love for Mizzou and KU to be in the same conference.

The parallel that I see is with OU fans. The problem is that I don't think they can shake OSU.

I don't know that they would want to either. OSU is a pretty attractive program right now. They are a top ten team and Boone Pickens has sunk, literally, hundreds of millions of $$$ into them.

The problem, obviously, is that they would be a 15th team.

OSU brings nothing to the table except wrestling, Academics suck in a small market.

OU has no options right now. The SEC nor the Pac-12 wants them.

And they are stuck to oSu. OU will find a home when the BigXII implodes but not before

Mizzou board is in a massive meltdown. Guess where they want to go?

If Mizzou wants to join, then I agree with you; they need to get OU on their side. However, OU never had a problem recruiting Texas playing in the Big 8 for most of their program's existence, so they can probably go wherever they want without any impact on recruiting.
