Chip Brown:
In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas has been convinced by a plan presented by commissioner Dan Beebe to stay in a 10-member Big 12.

...

YOUR MOVE TEXAS A&M

The big question now is if Texas A&M, which, according to Orangebloods.com, has the votes on its nine-member Board of Regents to join the Southeastern Conference, would reconsider a possible move to the SEC and remain in the Big 12 with its long-time, in-state rival.

Orangeblood

It is just Mr. Brown, but it may be that the expansion ends right there with Neb.

Just media posturing by UT... so they can say, "we tried to keep the Big12 together, and A&M broke ties and created the downfall of the Big12."

I'm having a hard time beleiving that.

Big XII-2
1)No conference championship thus loss of a ton of money from that game.
2)TV package is not nearly as attractive minus Nebraska and Colorado

Actually, I think it is ESPN posturing. If all of the Texas schools went to the PAC-10, ESPN would lose the Texas market. Therefore, ESPN makes 2 moves:

1: Make an even more lucrative offer to the SEC if they can bring in Texas and/or A&M.

2: Make a lucrative offer to the Big 12 to keep the conference in tact (as much as possible).

If either of these things happen, ESPN keeps at least some presence in the big Texas markets.

Wow if all of this is true, how big of an arse will Texas be, to start all of this crap, and if the Big 12 does hold I wonder how Nebraska and Tom Osborne will feel leaving when they could've stayed in their regional conference.

not this.

NU is very, very happy with their results in all of this.

I don't think the conference is all that upset at NU leaving to be honest. Buncha whiners.

And no one cared about CU - including most of their own fan base.

If true, I'm for this arrangement but wish they'd add TCU and/or BYU, or maybe coerce Arkansas back.

I don't. I hope the Big 12 stays in tact. I really don't want to have another team with an even stronger foothold in North Louisiana and Houston (south Texas) to compete with recruiting. It's enough we have Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn and somewhat A&M right now. A&M coming to the SEC is good for the conference but effects us in recruiting more than anyone in the conference.
