That certainly looks pretty equitable, but the three strongest programs currently are all in the south. And they all have the best means to stay the best.
And again you are ending Bama-Tenn, and Aub-UGA. it may be that conference expansion leaves these games impossible to maintain but those schools aren't going to willingly give them up i don't think.

Auburn in the west amnd Bama in the east? If you are gonna slpit the rivalry, you would keep Bama in the west.
Not gonna happen as long as Bama hast to play Auburn and UT, and Auburn has to play Bama and UGA.
To keep the rivalry games, you have to move both east and Vandy west, and just let LSU dominate.
It would be no worse than the way the Big 12 was divided.

I'm all for moving Bama and Auburn over. It would get the damn East competitive again.

Two permanent non-division games like it use to be (takes care of Bama-Tenn and the Iron Bowl) and one rotating.
I don't like it but its the only way you could make it work under the mizzou scenario

thats just plain dumb. The SEC is not seperating Bama/Auburn.
Again, move UK to the west, natural rival with missouri and arky somewhat, uk has a deep history with LSU in both football and basketball

That probably would be the best from an equity standpoint. Putting UK in a weird geographical situation is better than weakening the West by giving them Vandy for Bama and AU.
I think people are missing the boat with splitting up Auburn and Bama, football isn't a big deal, esp if you put Bama and UT in the same division. That way all you have to do is make Auburn and Bama permanent cross division opponents.
The bigger deal is sports like basketball; for those sports you want Bama and AU playing as much as possible, and splitting them up will obviously affect that.

One of those “other conferences” A&M has talked to is the SEC. And overnight, on several SEC-related Internet sites, Missouri has been put forth as a possible candidate to join A&M in making the SEC a 14-team league.
seems pretty likely they are sourcing posters on tigerdroppings as at least one of their sources
MU is possible but doubtful

You can't be serious. You'd have the two strongest teams in one division, not to mention AU, UGA and UT all having potential to be good year in and year out. That would be the most unfair split ever.

The only way Texas A&M AND Missouri come is if we add two teams to the East to get to 16. I think if we add only two teams, one will be on the East. No way they want to get into the political battles of which current West team(s) will move to the East.
Posted on 6/14/10 at 12:01 pm to BhamTigah
To make everything work with Mizzou being the 14th team you would move AU to the east, play 9 conference games, and each team would have 2 permanent rivals from the other side which allows the teams to still have two rotating conference games.

You can't send Bama and Auburn to the East and send back over Kentucky or Vandy, it would be absurdly unfair.
Tennessee would be the only one that makes any sense. Still the West would be much easier but better than if you sent over Kentucky or Vandy.
Bringing Mizzou in would be awful, except for the money factor so it will probably happen.

Missouri? That's like adding UK without basketball.
Posted on 6/14/10 at 12:11 pm to BhamTigah
Why would we go to 14 teams???
Seems dumb...just more "conference opponents we wouldn't play every year. Either go 16 or stay at 12.
