Do they instantly become a favorite to win the conference this year?
which conference do you speak of? They will be in the MWC this year.

They already recruit well, especially the pac. islanders from all over the west, Hawaii, etc. and now they can tap into SoCal more.
they actually lose a lot of guys to the pac ten. Like that DT to Oregon this past recruiting season at the last minute, he probably wouldn't have if he knew Utah was going to join next season. Utah reminds me of Oregon state and Boise.....they really develop their players very well. Having pac ten status now is definately going to help them out and soon. I am glad they can help out the rest of the conference by adding a very respectable football program. I hope they take advantage while SC is down. They could very (little luck) well be the top dog of the Pac 12 south. It won't be easy but I am glad they are getting a chance.

Quote from a former Utah coach.........

This is great news for Salt Lake City as well. Was there recently, great town, I liked it... bringing more big time sports to the city will only help it too.

I hope they leave in 2011 in order to screw the MWC from using their accomplishments in their BCS autobid application.

The Utes are the best team in the Pac 10, imo.

The Broncs would own the pac 10 for the next 3 years, but they were scared to take a team in from Idaho b/c that small t.v. audience wasnt sexy enough for the arse whooping that would have ensued in that conference.

this is about utah, not boise. boise is a former community college, still surprised the mwc acquired them as quickly as they did. No way in hell the pac ten even gives them a sniff.
As far as Boise goes, I like Boise so I don't really know what to say. I think they could do well but wouldn't own the conference, at least not from the start. They are used to playing a couple bcs games a year. Under the former pac ten conference they would have had to play 9 minimum. Considering Boise would have never had to deal with the continual beating they would take week in and out I don't see how anyone with any sense could say they would own the pac ten the next three years.
eta...I take it someone is still upset about the beatdown the Utes gave you.

Then why did you bring them into the conversation?

obviously I had to remind you it was another non bcs school who beat Oregon.....because the Utes sure as hell didn't beat them last year. You said the Utes are the best team in the Pac Ten. How can that be when they lost to the Pac Ten champ last year? The Utes would lose to that Oregon team the next two years.
I agree Utah will add a significant football presence but don't go crazy. I think they can be champs but not last year or the next two years.
