I dont want a service academy in the SEC...I could never have a strong dislike for them.

I think they will be able to hold their own, and definitely wouldn't be the worst in the league.
Of course not. No one could ever take this title away from ole miss.

I agree with this. I'd actually become an instant Navy fan overnight (except for when they play LSU).

I'm really supportive of this....I hope there's SEC people in high places that have considered this.
A&M + Navy would be awesome IMO.

I initially laughed at this notion, but after reading the article, I think the idea is well reasoned. I don't see a major downside at all, even though the chances of this happening are probably miniscule at best.

I like it because it would preserve the current East/West alignment. Adding aTm and Mizz would cause major disruption.
That and Navy is pretty bad arse.
The Ole War Skule, Annapolis, aTm......It could work.

If nothing else, the SEC could spin this as protecting Navy’s viability as a major program if and when the “superconferences” emerge and split from the rest of Division I FBS.
And the ACC could take West Point, PAC? could take Air Force.

I don't think that a service academy could ever compete in the SEC. Look at Navy's roster. They have three kids over 300 pounds. Actually they have two kids exactly 300 pounds and one over.

Discipline, determination, and heart all mean a lot, but a 40 pound advantage at the line means more.

Who cares if you're competitive when you're getting a $20mil+ check every year and you're on TV every week no matter who you're playing?
That said, Navy would be just as competitive, if not more, than Vandy/Kentucky/OleMiss/MissSt

Does anyone remember how well a much more athletic GTech team did against us in the Peach Bowl in 2008? And our defense sucked that year. Navy might have hung with USCe but they would get murdered over the course of the season.
Oh and Annapolis is 1100 miles from BR so no. I like to keep the SEC at least somewhat regional. As a point of reference, Chicago is closer.

I want tickets for the first UK/Navy basketball game.

I've made the trip from Annapolis to Baton Rouge several times to watch the Tigers play.

I don't see Navy accepting an SEC invite even if they are offered. They would struggle to become bowl eligible every year.
ETA: I do think this makes a lot of sense for the SEC and would welcome them with open arms, but I just can't see Navy accepting.
