How did we get to the point?

Where the political parties have become so inverted. The Republican party used to be the party of the rich and the party of morals. Democrats were supposedly the party of the common man.
Now you have all of the ultra wealthy and big business as democrats. You have the rank and file democrats preaching about the morals of racism, immigration, vaccination, etc.
In the last 20 or so years seems like politics has been flipped on its head.

Orientation has changed. We worship new gods. We honor a different code . . . or no code. Democrats are perfectly positioned to reap the rotten harvest.

quote:Nope. This was always nothing more than a Democrat bull shite meme.
The Republican party used to be the party of the rich
quote:Also has never been true. Democrats have been the part of the ultra-wealthy for longer than I've been alive.
Democrats were supposedly the party of the common man.
quote:This group has always understood the value of an enormous government in terms of their interests. The top .5% have voted Democrat in EVERY election since Kennedy.
Now you have all of the ultra wealthy and big business as democrats.
quote:Nope. It's just that in the last 20 years, it's starting to become more obvious that MAYBE, the Republicans can be argued to be the "party of the well off" which really means, "party of career types, long term workers and professionals". Meanwhile, the ONLY think the Democrats care about the underclass for is that they're easily duped.
In the last 20 or so years seems like politics has been flipped on its head.

So you're saying that as the Average American has become more politically informed, they have learned that the once held mantras of politics were nothing but BS democrat talking points?

Only true when the "common man" meant white.

90% of dims are too young and uneducated to know WHY they vote for these fruits, the other 10% are just uneducated.

Marginally so.
What's really happened I think is that the Average American has taken note of 2 key things.
1. Democrats always use "income" taxes as a proxy for going after "the rich" and since "income" taxes are really something that mostly hits the "well off"......and since more and more people at the bottom have dropped from the tax rolls completely, average people are getting fricked HARD.
2. Divisive issues are far more visible. Social media has made it impossible for Democrats to hide. 25 years ago, basically no one outside of California would know about the smash and grab crime spree for example because it just wouldn't have been covered anywhere else.
I'd say it also helps that some of the ultra rich and their activities are much more "visible" to us. We just tend to notice the direct activities of Google, Twitter, Facebook etc more than say, General Electric, IBM and Goldman Sachs.

This has been false my entire adult life. They spew that garbage but their policies have NEVER helped the common man.
Same for urban living people (regardless of race). GARBAGE policies have ruined once great American cities.

Well, if you would have actually dove deeper into the news in the 90s, you would have seen the Democrats starting their slide into Marxism. In the early 2000s, you would have noticed the Republicans giving in to anything the Democrats wanted. It was all right there.

Go back in history and watch the development of the Republicans and the Slave Owners ...Deep South Democrats.
So much for the idea that Democrats were ever for the "common man"
While Lincoln and the Republicans never sold the nation on the idea that Republicans freed the slaves and they "Owe us" Lincoln did not start a war trying to free slaves ...And yes he did. He crossed the Potomac with the intent to end the rebellion.
LBJ took all that away by simply ...giving them crap. They will be owned by us for generations.
The richest group of voters in the country sold their souls to the Democrats. They could care less about the common man. Yet they have the masses of ignorance convinced the Democratic Party is more faithful to the cause.

Because of the decline of religion in our society. Scoff if you want but there's your answer.

quote:Because democrat-advocated socialism is great for the big corporations, as it destroys small businesses and leaves big ones as the only choice. Covid has been very revealing in terms of seeing what businesses get preferential treatment, and it's Amazon, Wal-Mart, grocery chains, etc. Small local businesses have gone under left and right.
Now you have all of the ultra wealthy and big business as democrats.
This is by design.

Neither was the case. That is just propaganda that the Democrats used. And look how the Republicans lied for 10 years about Obamacare and then when they had a chance to kill it they chose not to.

Stupid people who vote without knowing what they are voting for.
And 99% of them don't care because who the person they voted for tells them they're "winning" and better off.

Big businesses benefit from progressive Left's draconian policies and sanction standards against small businesses. It really is that simple. Big businesses keep their powder dry and the Dems do their dirty work for them.

Dems = Big Government/Government Subsidies/'income equality" . Republicans tried to walk the "compassionate conservative" fence; which is impossible.
Dems no longer believe in America as Founded. Obama spoke well for their Movement re "Constitution is a document of negative liberties". Dems are pushing for a Democratic (pure version) Authoritarian State; therein the open Border. Hillary said as much: "I'd like to see it where people just walked back and forth across the Border". I.e., no Border...no 'nation'.
IMO, that will happen one day. But such an Earthly Utopia will NOT be ushered in via lies and herding cats. It'll come from a common Vision, born of a massive dysfunction, collapse and 'Second Coming' of the Good Lord reboot of Truth. "There will be no need for one to teach another, for the Truth shall be written in the hearts of all".
God speed from here to there.
