Hello Golf Board,

I strained my back last week trying to hit some balls over the mountains before my round. Here are my questions:

1) I'm about 90% recovered. Just a little soreness in the muscles around the affected area. What timeline have you guys given yourselves before jumping back in and what are some ideas to ease back into it.

2) I know that I didn't stretch and warm up properly in the cold weather which I think directly impacted the injury. What are some good warm up techniques and stretches to properly loosen up before a range session or round?

It sucks because I've been changing my grip and was hitting the ball better than I have for the past few years. Now I feel like a cripple.

I touch my toes for about 3 seconds, swing back and forth to lossen my back up 3 or 4 times and start hitting wedges

This is normally my approach but after missing Christmas from a golf injury I think my method is lacking.

1.) two weeks after last pain sensation is rule of thumb but everyone is different.

2.) you’d do yourself wonders by stretching during the week and simply starting off slower on the range. Stretching cold muscles is how to pull a muscle right before teeing off. I’ll normally hit all my range shots and then stretch waiting for 1st tee to clear.

Buy a $50 TENS unit from Amazon and use it. I love mine for fixing muscles that are sore.
