Airline fuel charges

I’m 6 months out from a trip and have been watching fares daily. Right now prices are mid range and the projection on several sites is they will dip soon and then trend up until the flight is scheduled. I know airlines are under set contracts for fuel, but with oil skyrocketing right now, does anyone think airlines will start adjusting fares immediately to counter fuel prices?

I'm booking all my airfare now and hoping for schedule changes over the next 6 months. I'd book at this cost, you can always rebook if it goes cheaper and get the difference in ecredits

^ This. I've got all of my travel booked through the end of May and only 1 flight hasn't had some sort of change allowing me to move/edit it.

My personal travel is booked for the year. I book my work travel same day or day ahead.

What is the process to rebook? I just bought 7 to Billings MT for a trip to YS this summer.

Are you under one reservation or split into a few? You probably won't find cheaper pricing for all 7 tickets at once but you might be able to switch a few. What airline? Southwest and Delta make it the easiest

Delta; 2 separate reservations.

Perfect, nice and easy then. For the reservation, go into modify flights and start flight change (not flight cancellation). Check the box for your flights and keep origin/destination the same then push search. It will pull up the prices and flight options for your dates. If you see the prices have gone down, you can select the new flights and it will show you the amount in ecredits that you'll get back. I got a $5 credit over the weekend for rebooking a flight

Cuse,
Didn’t want to start another thread but I’ve been looking at flights to various different places and I’m having sticker shock. I mean these prices are at least double to what I’m used to seeing to places we normally go. Are you seeing the same thing?

I just bought MLU to Den tickets. Looked to be nearly double the normal price.

Airlines had a bunch of sales last week so not surprised it's more expensive this week

Our tickets from LFT to Cancun went up $1500. Same exact flight

I paid $450 RT from Dallas to Destin last week (DAL-ATL-VPS on DL and DSI-DAL on JSX) and now it's over $700

I'd equate this to watching the stock market every day. If you look at the peaks and valleys for a certain stock daily, it's going to drive you insane as you could catch a high point or a low point. If airlines raise prices too much travel will be limited

Yup, Google flights even lets you track prices
