Buying an Existing Business

Posted by H2O Tiger on 1/16/26 at 8:51 pm
I've been mulling around the idea of leaving the corporate world and starting/doing my own thing for a few years and I'd like to pull the trigger in the next few years.

With the Baby Boomers entering retirement there are many businesses that are going up for sale. Has anyone had any experience in locating/vetting these types of businesses and, if so, did you work with any companies or services to assist in the process?

Offense will really need to gel in a new system quickly. The growing pains of that will be our biggest nemesis next year.

This may be what sold Longstreet. If he's got a good rhythm with the offense before Leavitt is cleared, he could be in the driver's seat.

Car dealer money is looking great right now :pimp:
Dallas has a great one, lots of unique buildings.

Denver with the rockies in the background isn't bad either.

My favorite though has to be Shanghai

I can't remember a time where I was this excited about the trajectory of LSU football. We are adding guys like crazy and I can't even keep up with everyone we're getting.

This is awesome.
If LSU is the Yankees (27 World Series Championships) that would make Texas 8&4 the Seattle Mariners (never appeared in a World Series).

Yes.

States are already passing or crafting laws regarding this. You have to be able to drive.

Now its getting super complicated for things like Waymo's and Tesla taxis. I haven't kept up with what States are doing with that

If I'm hammered in the back of a Waymo they better not start handing out DUIs.
Exploring Kyoto

Our time in Kyoto was short, too short. I don’t actually feel like we were able to see the city properly and I would recommend spending at least a couple of nights here. If we had it to do over again, I would have given up a day in Tokyo in exchange for an extra day in Kyoto. We will absolutely return to Kyoto on a future trip to Japan as we still have plenty of the city to explore.

I got 11k off a 2019 Audi A5 Sportback in April of 2020. Peak covid lockdowns and the dealer still had 20 2019's on the lot four months into a year where they thought the world was ending. 2020 models had a slight refresh from the 2019s.

Easiest transaction ever.

Never been to Budapest but Vienna is one of my favorite cities anywhere in the world. Also a fan of Prague.

From Vienna, do a quick day trip to Bratislava.
I had horse in Kazakhstan last year and I agree.

Never saw it in Japan though.

Manufactured homes are built to HUD specifications, which the vin number you speak of. A manufactured home is what most people consider a trailer, it will have a HUD tag and it will remain on the home no matter what. You can take a double wide and build a 1 million dollar add on to it and it will still be considered a mobile home, or HUD home.

This is exactly what we're seeing at the lake. Place started with a movile home so no matter what you do, it's still a mobile home.

And I should have clarified, lending isn't necessarily more difficult in terms of getting the loan, but the interest rates are higher. FWIW, Hancock Whitney had no problem with doing it in Texas, would just cost more.

I've looked at a couple of double wides while searching for lake property. Some of them have felt more sturdy than some of the free standing homes we toured.

Lending on them is a PITA though. I guess the fact you can pick them up and move them makes lenders jumpy. I also learned that they essentially have VIN numbers that are removed when it is "immobilized".

Austin police are the highest paid police in the country, right above NYC. I read that somewhere.. So if anyone wants to be a cop Austin is where its at.

That can't be true. Those guys don't do anything.
