If Crewz says it, I gotta believe the opposite just because of his accuracy rate over time.

Crewz has been on Sharpe being the key to Daniels being available, and was convinced yesterday that Portland takes him at 7. Not sure why he changed his tune this morning with the Griffin stuff. Shouldn't matter.

PelicansReport. He mentioned it in a throwaway comment. Basically that Griffin had a good chance to go top 7 and then just hasn't been good during the process so has dropped.

He has been doing little flip flops over the past few days

I'm riding with you homie.

Dyson could be the perfect starting point guard for this team.

Strengths:

Incredible passing vision and playmaking

Very good at setting the table for an offense

Excellent defender

Great size

Weaknesses:

Not the greatest athlete which can cause issues when trying to breakdown the defense or being the primary creator of an offense.

Questions on whether his shot will be consistent.

The reasons why I think he is perfect for this roster is that we don't need him to be the primary creator for the team. We have CJ, BI, Zion, and Jonas who we can run the offense through. He looks like a Lonzo clone in that he really pushes the ball up court and can get a team into its offense, which will be crucial because it takes the pressure off of CJ and BI. Similar to the issues we saw with the Celtics in the finals, we don't want BI and CJ having to be the primarily guys every single possession.

Lastly, he is the perfect backcourt mate for CJ. Daniels can guard the best perimeter threat which would free up Herb to be the utility guy and guard the best wing threat or whomever is needed. Now guys like CJ and BI and for sure guarding less threatening players.

I am so confident in Freddie V, that he can make Daniels into a consistent high 30 percent shooter.

I want Daniels the most. Unfortunately, I think Indiana is gonna take him.

There are a few teams who could honestly do anything and it wouldn’t surprise me.

Those are the Kings, Pacers, and Blazers.

1-3 is going to be the same guys in some order. Pistons are likely taking a guard to pair with Cade. The other three spots could trade out or make wild shifts in who they want.

Daniels is a very similar player to Lonzo imo. Biggest difference is Lonzo was good at getting to the rim just was reluctant because of his lack of confidence in finishing, Daniels is a good finisher but handle and bag is quite there so he struggles to get to the rim. Both similar defenders, really good on ball but can get lost off ball. This isn’t me saying I wouldn’t love taking him because thats very good value at 8. Most young guys have a weak handle, its the biggest difference between the NBA and its subsidiaries, so there is always optimism for improvement

Lonzo at 8 at the start of a rookie deal would have beaten Lonzo at 2 and two seasons into his rookie deal for us.

Cost control (number of years, scale of contract size) is a big deal.

Daniels upside to me is the best of Lonzo and Hart, which is almost the perfect guard compliment to Zion/BI.

The only thing he lacks that will probably never be able to be overcome is not having that explosive first step that if you were building your ideal guard, they would have.

The big question with Daniels is can we get his shot right?

Cause to be that on/off ball player he needs to become +37% from three on 6+ shots a game. Ideally evolving as a motion shooter.

The first step doesn’t bother me due to his laterally testing numbers. Thats what translates to having an elite first step, Look at Harden and Luka. What kills him is his limited handle and moves to beat a guy, which in turn will hurt confidence and slow you down

He checks so many boxes for us. Initially, many have been concerned with Jose “running an offense”. In comes Daniels who can play with Jose due to his size and either be a primary or secondary ball handler.

Long term perfect world, Daniels could do the exact same thing with Cj. Ceiling is Daniels can be the pseudo PG type guy on offense next to a smallish scoring 2 guard like CJ.

I personally have been terrified with the idea of an injury ruining this upcoming very promising season. If Herb Jones goes down, who could possibly fill that defensive role for us. And while Daniels is no Herb Jones for sure, we at least add another long armed and very versatile defender.

It’s a really nice fit, no doubt.
