Brian Kelly has a plan

BK has been extremely calculated with all of his decisions up until this point. Did that stop when it came to making a decision on the QB’s? No!
He knows that he can get to 4-0 with a running game and defense alone. Jayden Daniel’s is the conservative choice that will give time for the rest of the team to gel.
Nuss takes over somewhere between game 3-5 when the players are more familiar with the overall coaching system. There are way more variables to consider with this decision then any of us non-winningest coaches in FBS could even comprehend.
Let’s give the man some kind of leash considering the dumpster fire he inherited.

Lol good point. This fan base has PTSD from the last few years of coaching decisions.
It’s actually amazing we’ve won as many games as we have.

So you think he purposely holds off on starting the better qb until 4 games into the season?

Define “better”?
I think BK is concerned about winning. Throwing Nuss out there with an unproven OL and an entirely new system/way of doing things may not be the best idea. Maybe Daniel’s is “better” at leading a run heavy offense and that’s exactly what we need for the first few games.
A great coach is going to think about the consequences of each decision in the short, medium, and long term.

I would assume his argument is more along the lines of bringing Nuss in slowly rather than outright starting him. Giving him time to develop and get used to game speed. It is a method that many coaches use.

So wouldn't you wanna get your young QB 4 games of experience while the teams gelling, doesn't make sense. I understand it's Kelly's team and he knows more than me and all that but something just doesn't sit right. All 3 guys definitely didn't get the same chance like it was said they would. Myles never got first team reps at all. Kelly said if Nuss had been healthy he would have gotten first team reps during the scrimmage so he never got the chance, I'd understand if they waited two days, played the scrimmage on Wednesday, weighed those results, then made a decision. This "QB competition" just doesn't seem to have really been a competition, seems predetermined. Right or wrong, idk, but it wasn't really a competition

with Daniels taking first-team reps and new head coach Brian Kelly indicating Nussmeier was going to be alongside him once he recovered from a minor ankle injury.

I can’t help but laugh at this point

You may be right but I think it comes down to the more experienced guy getting the start. Plus he’s extremely mobile. If he gets banged up Nuss comes in or if he doesn’t execute the passing game well you can put Nuss in. Of course this might be Daniels time and he throws up heismann like numbers all season. Less downside all the way around for BK.

Idgaf if you do laugh. It could work out, but it wasn't an open competition. Only 1 QB got reps with the 1s in a scrimmage, that's not a competition. We have 2 days til the next scrimmage where both leaders will get first team reps and another Saturday, why not wait to see how they both do in those scrimmages before deciding? Doesn't make sense

FSU and MSU are by no means guaranteed wins. Look for Kelly to play very conservatively at first. People on here are going to lose their minds when we start play run first football.
Now, if Jayden starts turning the ball over, look for Nuss to come in quick. I think turn over margin is making this decision more than anything else.

Yes, CBK has a plan. To the OP…this isn’t it.
