Lot of good places in Bham. Not as familiar with Hoover. What are you looking for?
Blue Pacific is Thai food out of an old gas station. About the only food I regularly drive to Hoover for.

Hoover doesn’t have many upscale, non-chain places. What they do have is some of the best ethnic food in Birmingham.
Lorna Rd is the key:
Tortuga’s for the best deep dish outside of Chicago. For a whole pizza call ahead as it takes 30 mins or more to prepare.
Jake’s Soul Food for a Jamaican themed soul food place. Ox tails are amazing and they run out fast.
Silver Coin is the best Indian in town.
Pollo Lucas for a South American style chicken.
Blue Pacific for fresh made Thai food.
Archie’s for traditional bbq and one of the better burgers in Bham.
If you need to branch out from there, let us know.
ETA: Fried Green Tomatoes is a pretty good meat and three.

I don’t know much about Hoover specifically but if you want bbq don’t go to Jim n Nicks. Saw’s opened a Hoover location so that would be the spot to go.
