Only 3 of us were playing and just before we tee off the starter comes driving up and asks if he can put a single with us, we say sure.
This guy drives up in the cart and you can tell he was hurrying. Probably 35 years old, a frail looking 150 pounds and 5'9.
He say he will play the tips. We play the blues.
Fast forward, he finishes the day with 4 birdies and one double to shoot 2 under.
For those that know the course, his Double Bogey happened on the elevated par 3 225 yard 8th when his tee shot takes a big bounce and ricochets hard off the left side of the pin, rolls down the hill into the canal.
Other than that he was flawless all day.
He was a nice guy and he might be the best putter that I have ever witnessed in person.
Just goes to show, never judge a raggedy looking golfer...

How quick did you realize he was legit? First drive, first putt?

The first par 5.
He smoke a drive but pulled a wood left and had a really tough chip shot.
He flopped it to 2 feet for a birdie. Hell of a shot.

Always fun playing with a stud golfer. Hooked up with Curtis Thompson when he was at LSU. He joined our group on hole 8 at UClub, playing 220 from the tips straight into north 15 mph wind, he hit a missile to about 10 feet. He was several under the rest of the day.
