I booked a round trip flight for around $400 late at night. I see there are still seats available on several of the earlier flights on the same day, but they want $800-$1k to change. Is there anyway to get on these flights last minute at no charge if they don't sell out the tickets?

Same day change if it's available in the same fare class for your desired flights. Think it's $75 per ticket. Otherwise you can pay to go standby unless you have status

I have gold status but never tried to use standby before. Can I just get on the list through the app or do I have to be in the airport all day?

Nice I'm gold as well. So if you check in on the app, what you'll see at the bottom is same day change. It will tell you if you can go confirmed and if not then standby. I can't remember if you have to check in first to see those options or if you can do it online/by app otherwise

Thanks for the tip. I'm on standby and it says there's still 15 seats available so there's a decent possibility that I'll get on. No charge either!

Eta: apparently none of those 15 are in comfort+ or main so I couldn't do standby confirmed. Seems hard to believe so I guess I'm just waiting it out
