LSU BAMA EFFORT

I don't think that any more needs to be said about how big the game is this weekend. Regardless of who's coaching Alabama this game is going to be huge. I've hated Alabama long before Saban got there and really don't look at them any different now that he's there. I see them as a well coached SEC team that enters Tiger Stadium as the #1 Team in the country.
LSU has underachieved most of the season but we're still 6-2 after losing several key players on defense and a leader on offense. To expect a RSFR QB to come in a perform at the level we've been acustomed to is optimistic and we should have expected setbacks. Maybe not 10 with 5 being returned the other way. My problem is Miles seems to be a bit hypocritical with the QB's compared to the RB's. Keiland turns the ball over in the spring and is immediately benched. You can argue about how Lee has shown great compusure from coming back from the INT's but my problem is that I think that he needs to lose his compusure or whatever it takes to learn from his mistakes. Our O-line has been a very big bright spot on the team and I feel that we should have played Hatch more after. I know that Lee has a great arm but honestly what are his other strengths? It's not foot speed. I'm at a loss but he's Miles' man so I will tow the company line and will support him. I would like to see Jefferson used in Hatch like scheme's and even more if Lee really struggles.
I could spend a day talking about why we should've played less of Lee all season and started getting Jefferson reps but that's not going to solve anything. My post is about talent versus effort. Everyone and their brother knows that LSU has talent. More talent than Alabama and arguably the most talent or at least equal talent to any team in the SEC. Our team has lost its confidence. I'm not talking about swagger either, bc to me swagger is more talk and less about proving it. This doesn't lie completely on the shoulders of the players because we lost some key defensive players in Dorsey, Steltz and company as well as an offensive leader in Hester. Dorsey was extremely talented but what separated him from the pack was the effort he gave. He tried his A** off on every down. There aren't many players that I've seen that have this combination, talent and effort. What Hester lacked in talent he made up for it with effort and a will to win. Hester willed his way to get yards in games last year and that Willpower bled to the other members of the team. This team is missing this so far this season. I do feel that there are players that give it their all every play and Rahim Alem comes to mind( there are others obviously). I think that RJF has arguably more talent than Dorsey but has yet in my eyes at least, leave it all on the field. I know that he's battled injuries this season and will make a fortune in the NFL but this season I've yet to see him dominate and inspire the rest of the DL like Dorsey did. That being said, what better place to prove yourself than against Alabama, #1 team in America.
The defenses performance this year has been lackluster to say the least. Our d-coordinators have pretty disappointing for most of the season. This lack of confidence begins to get embedded in the players persona and performances and eventually makes it to the fans, if the fans aren't the originators. Not all is lost though. It's about preparation. The coaches and players must prepare for a dominating performance. We have players that can play. They just must perform and not just go through the motions but show the effort and drive that separates us from other programs. Talent alone will get us nowhere. I don't care how many 5 star guys we get year in and year out, with no heart, we will get nowhere.
I think it's important for us to get up on them or at least rattle their cages early. I noticed in the Ole Miss game that there was a point where Ole Miss had the momentum and the bama defense started pointing fingers. This is what we need. At the first sign of this our team should step on the throat. Florida and UGA saw this in us early and smelled blood and exploited us for it. We shall do the same versus Bama.
I also think it's important for LSU fans to come out in full force. We need to be loud. Does anyone remember how loud Tiger Stadium was when we upset #1 Florida in 1997? I'm still pissed to this day I didn't buy one of those shirts that read Oct. 11th 1997 the day the Field goals came down (or something like that). Tiger Stadium needs to be a place that is feared once again.
Alabama is playing with a lot of confidence. Their players are over achieving but a couple of things don't go their way trust me, the Tide will turn very quickly (sorry for the pun) It's games like these that bring back the confidence in our team. It's games like these that make you realize that there is no other place in the world that one would rather be on Saturday than TIGER STADIUM.

This game really isn't that big considering that LSU is for all practical purposes out of the sec west race. It is much bigger for Bama. Their program has been a little down, and a road win against a decent LSU team would show that their program is definitely headed in the right direction.

Whoa....I stopped reading that halfway through. Paragraphs man, paragraphs. I want LSU to win for 2 reasons, neither of which has anything to do directly with Saban. Numero uno, LSU must win to keep their SEC title hopes alive. A Bama win sends them to Atlanta as the West rep. Second, I want to ruin their perfect season. I'm sick of all of the hype. I remember back in 2005 when Bama was "back" and LSU beat them in Tuscaloosa. I don't want to see them get anywhere near the BCSCG. I'd much rather see Florida win it.
