I just finished it. It took me a little time to warm up to this cast and the story, but the intensity and craziness built up slowly, and I eventually got invested in wondering who might come out on top. Of course it's one of those stories where you're not rooting for anyone because they all kind of suck. And then a third party enters the feud and shite gets serious. In the end I was surprised by who made the decisive move. I think this season will do well enough to put in an order for a Season 3.

I think I may have enjoyed Season 2 more than Season 1. As with the first season, great directing and acting all around. I liked how multi-faceted the characters were. No one was all good or all bad.

When will Universal start making the updated modern versions of their great horror classics??

I think that Tom Cruise's Mummy movie killed Universal's plans to reboot their classic monsters.

I’ve been at least curious about this one and Hokum. I adore the original evil dead movies (and like army of darkness) and the 2013 remake just didn’t hit for me so I haven’t given Rise a shot (the one Cronin directed).

It definitely ups the gross out factor. I made the mistake of going to an evening showing at Alamo Drafthouse and tried to eat while watching it. Bad idea.

Sounds very similar to the most recent wolf man movie

I agree. The recent Wolf Man movie tried to go its own way by reimagining the werewolf curse as a virus. No full moon. No silver bullets. It looks like Lee Cronin tried to do something similar with his approach to the mummy. I can appreciate that, but all he succeeded in creating is a mash up of The Exorcist and The Mummy that feels an awful lot like an Evil Dead movie.

went in with low expectations and I thoroughly enjoyed this flick. Lots of body horror, lots of gore, but the main characters were very well done. The acting I thought was very good and it was a really neat take on the entire mummy’s curse. It’s not for everyone at all for sure but it’s a very worthy horror film

I had high hopes, but it just wasn’t for me. It’s really more of an Evil Dead movie than a mummy movie. In fact it’s not a mummy movie at all, at least not in the truest sense. The gore and body horror was pretty extreme, which I’m not a huge fan of, but the acting and practical effects were very good. Not a terrible movie by any means, but not my cup of tea. If you don’t go in anticipating a reboot of the mummy franchise, you’ll probably like it, and if you’re a fan of the director’s Evil Dead films, you’ll love it.

I mean jared leto is the villain i think we can all agree the bad guy will be some kind of toxic

Skeletor didn’t need “toxic masculinity” to make him the villain in the cartoon. He was Adam’s evil uncle Keldor who wanted the throne for himself.

The term “toxic masculinity” gets used to describe just about every behavior attributed to white cisgender men.

A good provider for his wife and children = toxic
Being in shape and well-groomed = toxic
Being patriotic and/or a Christian = toxic

The media tries to tell us that women don’t want intelligent, strong men. Supposedly they want simpering, weak, beta neckbeards who “feel.” I can honestly say that I don’t know any women who want a weak beta male as a partner.

Its a cartoon created to sell toys not Shakespeare.

Exactly! They make up these ridiculous back stories to push their woke narratives. This crap was never part of the original cannon.

The wind took him to an alligator pond where he was eaten.

And the monkey table.

Apparently both of these make an appearance in the reboot, but instead of a monkey, we get a human.

They never learn

I originally had high hopes for this movie. Now, not so much.

They're going to ruin it with "the message", just like they ruin everything else. :banghead:

Seems to happen every year now, though maybe not this early.

In the past we blamed BK’s poor strength and conditioning staff. We sure do seem to incur more than our share of season-ending injuries during spring and fall practices. Seems to be a yearly occurrence for us.

I see that they’re making a new one. Sounds like it will all be fake.

I probably won't go see it, but the reboot at least has an interesting premise. A serial killer is murdering people based on the deaths in the original films. It's kind of a meta-reboot in that it acknowledges the existence of the original movies.

no matter how many times I see it, I always have to watch it on April 1

A very underrated film with one of the best twist endings. The remake was hot garbage.

I’ve thought about this in the past and feel like you will see your loved ones as you remember them or want to see them. We will appear differently to everyone.

When I was in elementary school at St. Aloysius in Baton Rouge, one of my classmates asked the priest this question. He told us that your loved ones will appear to you as you most fondly remember them, and they will see you the same way. I’d like to think that’s how it will be.

They lost me with the "Skeletor represents toxic masculinity" shite So fatigued with that shite.

Hollywood can’t make a movie for entertainment purposes only anymore. It always has to have a message. I could care less that they race-swapped Man at Arms and Teela because I like Idris Elba and Camilla Mendes as actors, but they had to make the villain (a muscle-bound purple wizard with a skull for a face) a symbol of “toxic masculinity.” Give me a freaking break. He’s Keldor, the king’s evil brother who covets the throne. That’s all he needs to be. That’s reason enough for him to be the antagonist. We don’t need him to represent something else.

Did I miss something, or did the dogs have anything to do with the plot at all?

They never explained it. One of the several plot lines that went nowhere.

Never mind. Finished it up last night. It started so strong, but the ending was a convoluted mess. They set the tone in the first episode with this eerie ethereal quality, but they ultimately didn't revisit any of it later on. Not sure I'd sit through it again. the first 3-4 episodes were pretty amazing.

Agree. It started so strong but fizzled out down the stretch. The atmosphere they set up in the first couple of episodes with the big, dark house and the maze-like hallways, the creepy painting, and the family's weird behavior was so well done. Once you found out what was really going on, it felt like a let down, and it became unnecessarily convoluted.

Just like at baseball CWS, he just shows up and goes where he wants, but hasn't been to a LSU baseball game all year because he knows those hard core baseball season ticket holders won't let him anywhere near the seats behind home plate

I swear that sometimes it seems like LSU bankrolls this asshat because he has primo seats at athletic events, both at home and on the road. He was front and center at the NC game in 2019 and at Clemson last season. Someone needs to call him out and let him know that it’s not racist to ask him to sit in the seat he purchased and not take over someone else’s seat.

Looked for a topic here, but don’t see it listed. Well done in my opinion. The house itself is a main character. The lead actress is a smokeshow. Best thing I’ve seen on Netflix since The Haunting of Hill House

I'm halfway through. The house is very cool. It's like a maze with all of the curving hallways. They do a great job of making the viewer think one thing is going to happen, then suddenly going in a different direction. I'm planning to finish the series tonight, so I'm curious to see how it ends up.

It made the right look stupid because these have been peaceful ptotests

Well considering that the large majority of leftist protests in the past HAVE NOT been peaceful, I'd say that the right was justified in their concerns that these might get out of hand as well.
