Honestly, I'm fine with this. The more eyeballs on soccer in the US the better. We always lament about talent being diverted to other sports. If the parents get interested, that may make them more open or eager to have their kids play. We cannot become gatekeepers to even bandwagon fans. Nothing will turn off someone's interest faster than being met with condescending superiority. Not that I'm saying that's how you responded to those texts. Embrace the interest and build upon it.

This is true. But if i had to hear "why didnt he shoot' when a guy is standing at the top of the box with 3 guys in between him and a half a foot a foot of space to get a half a chance off that the goalie would easily save I was gonna kill somebody
I love a good shot as much as anyone but the players were tryint to unlock that final ball rather than just ripping a 1% chance and giving the ball back to the dutch

The guys passed up several times to shoot with no one directly in front of them throughout the 4 games, at least 8-10 times.
And how many goals have we seen in the World Cup that the goal happened because of a deflection.
Im not sure wether it’s Beehalters design, or the lack of confidence from the front 4, but they constantly looked for the extra pass inside and around the box.
I don’t understand we don’t have Messi, but the fact that someone is in front of Messi, isn’t the factor of whether he shoots or not.

I mean every shot we took from deep went a mile over the crossbar anyway except for Weahs in the 42nd minute and thats still a very low percentage look that resulted in 0.016 xG

not a ton but yeah i like when guys take the shot if its there just for the possibility of a rebound or a deflection, but i haven't seen US with open shots and a run up to get enough power to create that. We hardly had any late runners into the middle as it was, much less looking to shoot

What were the stats on goal conversions making the extra pass in the box?
The have a goal scoring problem and just seemed weird always looking for extra pass without a 9 that is a natural goal scorer.
Statistically, if you don’t get shots off, you’re less likely to score and when you turn the ball over, instead of getting a shot off, you’re more vulnerable to a quick goal going the other way which happened at least once.

Gatekeeping a sport or hobby is never a good thing.

That's not why you should shoot from deep. The point is that when you shoot from deep consistently, which we definitely didn't do, is to draw the defensive line up the field. We were woeful in creating chances against a low-block but were fairly good in exploiting space, and thus shooting from deep is one of the classic ways of combatting the low-block.
