Is string noise form sliding chord changes a technique problem or are there strings to reduce this?

It's funny you had this post. I was listening to a Chicago song that had string noise. At first it was jarring but I just got used to it the more I heard the song.

For sure some string noise give acoustic songs some soul and feel, but I’m more so looking to reduce it. My strings seem to be extra loud but then again it might be that I’m just heavy handed.

The friction of your fingers sliding on the serrated surface of the wound strings (E A D G) are the source of the noise. No way around that, it's a by-product of a roundwound string.
Coated strings, however, fill those serrated gaps to a degree. Put on a set of Elixirs and you will notice the difference immediately. FYI, their Polywebs are "quieter" than Nanowebs

D’Addario makes a variety of Flat Top Stings for both Acoustic and Electric.
Some people say they reduce finger noise.
