Aside from festivals that take place throughout the day, who made the law that shows have to start at night? Why don't they ever start at 2 or 3, especially if they are on weekends?

Some places up here have started daytime shows which is nice since the days of me staying up late are few and far between.
It's def a different feel having a concert in bar during the day

Probably sell more drinks at night. Can’t sell tickets to people who are at work when the show starts. Timing of Travel, load in, and sound check probably play a part

I recall several years ago seeing Kermit Ruffins mention this issue and starting to play shows earlier in the evening that would finish at a reasonable time for people to get home to sleep and go to work in the morning.

That's a lot easier to do when you're playing locally, and don't have to allow for travel and setup time as someone mentioned. But I think a lot of of it is just that's the pattern, and people tend to stick to patterns.
