so 10 weeks or so of downtime, hope he’s a quick healer. The entire summer tour is sold out. We will be at Roanoke and Portsmouth

Thu night greensky bluegrass at tips. Sunday night mountain grass unit at the republic. 2nd weekend is better
same

she likes the THC/CBD gummies. It has been a godsend for her
I do a burn every couple years on an area that I’ve allowed to naturalize primarily to knock the privet and trumpet vine down. It does help and it’s shocking how quickly it restores itself

this area is also where I stockpile branches and other brushy waste to use to fill the bottom of new raised beds. The rabbits like it
Damn I’m two years older than he was. All timer steal your girl guy as mentioned…he was a terrific a-hole in starship troopers

re: Anyone here into bonsai?

the mineral soil recipe that tigerlaff introduced in the tropical fruit thread would also work very well for bonsai

The coolest bonsai I’ve seen is at the botanical garden in Norfolk VA they have a large bonsai area and there’s a large display of bonsai bald cypress, complete with knees and mosses. The trees are all about 24” and look like they are centuries old. It is really cool
Spiderwort is edible also in case you didn’t know. The leaves and stems and flowers are great in salads, and if you cut a stem and squeeze you get a soothing gel similar to aloe for burns and bug bites
I usually pick a spot, lay it out, and cover it up. Put a bunch of cardboard boxes down, get them good and wet and either cover with a tarp or a thick layer of mulch. In the fall, remove the tarp if you used it and add 6-8” of soil. Border with logs or wood or something then sow seeds and cover with pine straw

Charlottesville VA weekend report

Charlottesville is great. I’d never been there and we had a blast

Drove up Friday morning from Yorktown, the occasion to visit was Billy strings shows at the John Paul jones arena on UVA campus. There was a lot of other UVA related shite going on that weekend so hotels were scarce and expensive, we wound up being able to book a brand new hotel on campus (Virginia Guest House) which is walking distance to the arena. It’s very very nice. If not for wanting to walk to the shows I’d have stayed elsewhere but this was perfect

FRI afternoon we ate at a nice grocery store on campus called Foods of All Nations that had a prepared food section and sandwich counter. Not bad. After the show we ate in the lot.

JPJ Arena is awesome…old school, no hassles, easy in and out and no cops. If you like a band playing there you can’t do better for an indoor show. The shows were lots of fun.

SAT we went to the downtown mall area which for about the hundredth time made me ask “why don’t we have anything like this at home?” And then I remember why…

Very cool area, there was a great farmers market and an arts market, but the highlight was a free show at the Ting Pavilion which is a tented amphitheater at the end of the mall area. Incredibly nice. The band was just a local dead cover band but they have name acts playing there all summer. This thing blew my mind at how nice it is. Again, why don’t we have anything like this?

We at outside at a wine bar which was pretty good, then went to the show.

SUN we packed up and ate lunch at Guajiros Miami Eatery; fantastic and highly recommend.

From there we drove to Monticello which neither of us had ever visited. We spent about 4 hours taking a quick tour of the inside of the house, a longer look at the cellar rooms (kitchens, smokehouse, etc) and then a longer look walk thru the gardens and grounds. Magnificent. This place is a must visit and is astoundingly beautiful

So, that’s a quick trip to Charlottesville everyone was nice except there is a particular species of elitist UVA douchebag that we did run into pretty often, if that bothers you. Must be something in the water there

Western VA is gorgeous especially in the spring. As part of a visit to that region Charlottesville has a lot to offer. We are coming back in July to see Roanoke and the drive the blue ridge parkway
everyone should try psychedelics at least once. It’s not going to hurt you, you’ll probably have a good time regardless, and it might change your life for the (much) better

mushrooms are the easy way
he seems to be taking it well

I janked a couple fig cuttings today from Thomas Jefferson LOL. No idea what they are. If I can get them home alive I’ll try and sprout them

The gardens there are fantastic

Cavity above the ceiling as return air is very common in an office building. Your humidity is high because you are getting humid outside air perhaps more than what the system is designed for. And yes dehumidifiers on that kind of system are pricey

Dedicated return air ducts would help
sounds like he definitely broke his leg, someone posted the EMS radio chatter after the show. Bummer

I have to say I’ve seen a lot of shows, over a dozen just this year and coming up on 50 Billy shows overall and that was the loudest arena yet. There were times at the musical peaks that the crowd was so loud it drowned out the music. Charlottesville is awesome

Now if we could just get rid of the idiots selling (and buying) nitrous balloons. They are a pestilence

Decent rain in Hammond America this morning hallelujah
so after another heater last night the crowd was in a frenzy waiting for the encore, after a pretty long wait the lights came up and the show was over…rumor is that Billy tried to jump on his skateboard leaving the stage and fell and broke his leg

we did see the EMS situation outside and several people are saying they saw it happen from seats above the stage. Hope he’s OK

It looks brand new. That’s a good price you should go ahead and list it on FB or have someone do it for you. Most used Scags on the market are former commercial mowers that are pretty well used
Charlottesville last night was a scorcher, Billy played thru the set break LOL. Great arena too, old school and hassle free. Very loud

Night two incoming
