Looking for recommendations for late summer/early fall. Gf and I late 20s, want something near the coast with a beach and maybe some good fishing. International is welcome, but we want to keep it on this side of the world (americas/caribbean). We live in the mountains and do adventure type trips all year so looking for something more relaxing and beachy. Definitely don't want to be stuck on a resort, as we both like to immerse in local cultures so it needs to be safe. We do speak enough Spanish to get by.

We've already done the Keys, Puerto Rico, Cancun, Cabo, Costa Rica, Bahamas, and Anguilla.

A few ideas we've thrown around are Tulum, Belize, Hawaii, and the Galapagos Islands.

Galapagos you will need a permit and lots of planning.

I’d put this over all others if it’s in your list

Tulum will be crazy hot in September. Of those i would go to Hawaii (unless you can make Galapagos happen). Maui is amazing and great fishing on the Big Island

Other than the Galapagos, everywhere on that list is going to be hot AF. Galapagos would be amazing, but very expensive.

August into fall is the hottest time of the year in Hawaii. It's hot enough that after about 10 am it's not particularly fun to do anything outside of beach time or going up the mountain where it's cooler. If you are fine with hot, Hawaii is great and tons to do.

For OP, me and my wife seem very similar to y’all. Of the places y’all have been that you listed, which was y’all’s favorite?

Thanks for pointing that out. We obviously haven't done any research yet. Has anyone been at that time of the year? It says that's their cool and dry season.

Definitely CR. It's a small but diverse enough country that you can do a bit of everything in 10 days or so. Rent a car, spend a few in the Rainforest, Arenal, and at the beach. Food and people were great
