Did LSU players tell the co-DC's how to fix the scheme Sat.?

Interesting observations from Scott McCay's blog:

And on defense, after Troy got the touchdown in the third quarter to go up 31-3, Miles and Peveto called a meeting of the Tiger defense on the bench - and before they could even get started I saw Chris Hawkins, Jai Eugene and Chad Jones immediately jump on them and start talking. It looked like it got a little heated, but after they said their piece Miles and Peveto looked at each other and Peveto seemed to nod and then started marking his greaseboard. After that, Troy did absolutely NOTHING offensively. I don't know if these guys were suggesting strategy, or what. But whatever it was, this was the players taking over a meeting the coaches called, whether to chew them out or what - and obviously their input contributed to an immediate turnaround. And none of those guys were seniors, and all of them made plays after that.

For what it's worth I saw that meeting. And RIGHT before that on the drive Peterson was shutting his guys down playing tight coverage and initiating contact while the rest of the DBs were playing off 10 yards. Peterson was pissed, noticeably, when Troy marched down the field. RIGHT after the XP he went and got right in a coach's face. Not threatening or heated necessarily but he looked like he was giving him some pretty serious input.....then they had a DBs meeting on the bench........and now the blog. Interesting.

Interesting spin.

*meh* or maybe, for once this year, the players took some responsibility for what's happened and acted like leaders, for a change.

i don't know if the players told the DCs anything or not, but after the first drive of the second half, we started press coverage on the slot receiver, instead of 10 - 15 yards off like we had the rest of the game...

Bingo, that's what I mean. We have had trouble with this alot in the past year and a half (since South Carolina last year). They run off our DBs and run an out with the slot receiver against the LB or safety.
Peterson was playin his guy tight on the first drive of the second half and you couldnt throw there. Eventually the others adjusted as well.

Stupid.
You can watch the CBs yelling adjustments into the line/cutrera.
Plus wait you mean we might line up showing blitz and then back off knowing they will adjust to the blitz, absurd!

It's the same scheme that Pelini ran. Experienced DBs will do wonders for a defense.

I found it amazing that we were lining up not one, but two DB's 12 or so yards off the receiver on a team that was throwing the short stuff all night long.

I guess if they would have gotten closer to the line, LSU could have won the time possesion b/c Troy would of scored alot quicker.

one thing we changed that made the difference. jamming the receivers at the line.

Yeah, uh, LSU's DB's should be more than athletic enough to effectively play press coverage against Troy.

Scott called out the senior leaders or lack thereof.

adding to your point, why can't this guy find another example from a different play with the same thing happening? Secondly, if you watch closely, Cutrera and Jean-Francois look away before the signals are finished. To think they could decode that crap is idiotic.

No, I didn't forget Marlon Favorite. And while Ricky Jean-Francois did have one nice play where he stuffed the back in the backfield, I'm not going to get into what I saw out of him on the sidelines. If he wants to go pro after this year, he can. It's cool.
this was by far the most interesting tidbit in McKay's blog today.

The players have been frustrated with the scheme all season. Especially frustrated with the plays coming in late. Some occasions the D line thinks its one call and the secondary thinks its another.
The defensive situation is a mess.
Talk to some of the players 1 on 1 and all will tell you there morale is pretty low with little no trust in the DCs
