Why do my fire alarms go off every time the electricity goes out?
I’d hate for that to happen when I’m gone and my dog have to suffer through the noise for hours..

What do you mean your fire alarms? What is going off? Your siren on alarm system? Smoke detectors chirping? Panel chirping?

What kind of system is it? A brinks type? Sounds as if the NAC circuit is some how activating on power loss. Never heard of that happening before and by not knowing what equipment you have, hard to know if it’s something programmed or if it’s something severely messed up. The thing that has me scratching my head is when you loose power, the system is maintained by the batteries for 24 hrs in standby minimum. Not sure what is triggering upon loss of 120v power and making the siren alarm. Again, not knowing what you have, most things these days are all low voltage and have a transformer converting the 120v to 12 or 24 v and that’s what powers the nac items. I would def call the company and tell them you have an issue.

I would guess the power is holding the nac circuit closed and when the power drops yje circuit is changing states or is on some sort of powered relay.

If you're talking smoke and CO2 detectors.

My power went out last night and one of the 2 alarms in the ground floor man cave started beeping and I had to pull it off the ceiling to make it stop.

They are powered by electricity, but have a 9 volt battery backup when power fails. After the power was off for about 15 minutes it started beeping and that told me the battery only had enough power to let it function for a short while before it started beeping.

Perhaps yours is in the same fix and needs a new battery for back-up.
