Am I overthinking the #1 pick?

Have the first pick in a 10 team .5 PPR league. Is it worth just going JJ ride or die or should I take CMAC/Ekeler? Knowing at pick 20 and 21 that two of G. Wilson, J. Waddle and C. Olave should be available.

I drafted 2 overall and was able to get AJ Brown in the 2nd then Olave in the 3rd. Was also able to Olave in the 3rd from the 4 spot last night. Obviously an unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer Chase over Jefferson. Better QB and better offense that can't focus solely on Chase. Plus, every time I've had the number 1 pick, the overwhelming consensus number 1 pick hasn't delivered. Maybe I'm just scarred.

I personally would not take a WR at #1. I did several mock drafts and 2 real drafts.
If you take a WR first overall there will very likely not be a stud RB available when it gets back to your 2nd pick. However there's a high likelihood that there will be some really good WRs available at the end of Round 2 if you take a RB first overall.

This isn't 2003 anymore. LT isn't on the board.

Top RBs will be around at 20 whereas Top WRs won’t be.
Take JJ
I just checked a full PPR league I just had and Jaylen Waddle was the best WR available. There were 11 drafted before the 20th slot.
Pollard, Pierce and N Harris were around the 20th slot.

Unlikely, at least in the full PPR league I did on ESPN this weekend. Pollard went 16th. Najee went 26th, but he's more a solid rb than top rb. Pierce most definitely isn't a top RB, he's going in the late 4th to 6th round.
Amon Ra went 20th in that draft, with Olave, Kupp, Metcalf, Smith, and Waddle all being there as well. I'd expect Higgins to be there rather than Kupp most of the time obviously, but most those WR outside of maybe Amon Ra will be there at the end of the 2nd.

Ahhh I miss those days. LT would get me 50 points each week just by himself!
