I don't give a frick how much it costs. The field that the Baltimore Ravens have is what I wish we'd get. The amount of speed we'll have the next few years deserves a fast track to showcase it.

Not saying I'd want artificial turf but if high schools can afford it I'd think LSU could too.

Those fields are a lot hotter than grass. How long until a player has a heat stroke during a game in tiger stadium ?

The cost is offset by redoing the field every year. It costs approx. 1 million dollars.
We have it in the practice facility now. Why couldn't we afford it on the field????
I think one of the biggest reasons is that people would freak out that the turf isn't "natural"
Also I know that the field gets really hot during the day games. It's one of the draw backs of the material.

The only ones that get too hot are at high schools and small stadiums that just throw some field turf over some mud and call it a day. The more sophisticated fields have cooling systems under the field for this very reason.

It really wouldn't be that hard to do that at LSU considering the stadium is about 200 feet from the cooling towers. It'd be really easy to tap into the chilled water system and maybe add another chiller if they needed it.

Field Turf definitely has it's drawbacks, mainly from heat. Here is a study done by BYU a few years back:

The advancements in field turf have been ridiculous in the past few years and there are very efficient cooling systems now so that should not be an excuse.

The Freakin frozen tundra of Lambeau Field looked better last weekend. It was 3 degrees !

McNeese State just got turf last off season. An alum donated the money and I believe it was around a million dollars.
Given that LSU Football is one of around 10 programs that has revenues of over 20 million (after expenses) a year, and with the money that TAF brings in, money should not be an issue for installing turf. If they really wanted it, they would have it.

The Momentum Field Turf is in the Indoor Practice Facility and I did not hear any bitching about the cost when that was done.

Tiger Stadium should always be grass. Football is meant to be played on grass, mud, etc. I hate this turf bullshite.

Football in 1958 was meant to be played on grass. With all the new offenses and "track-like" athletes I don't really see a problem giving yourself whatever advantages you can. Speed + turf = deadly.
