Overtime needs to be changed.

YOu don't realize how much the OT rules suck in the NFL until your team is stuck in one. Each team should be given at least one possession. NFL is the only sport that only one team is guarenteed possession on OT.

The Saints lose ONE overtime game and now all of a sudden you are wanting a rule change. Get real dude.
I Like NFL overtime. If we were the better team we would have stopped them and gotten the ball back with a chance to score. We clearly weren't the better team today.

I posted this earlier:
They should use the college OT method.
But the only thing I would like to see changed about college OT is where the drives start. I hate how teams start on the 25, already in field goal range. They should start the drives at the 40 or even mid-field to make a team have to work a little before they can kick a field goal to salvage their possession with points.
This would make college OT even better. It would also be great in the NFL.

I think a touchdown should be required, not field goals. My 2 cents

Wrong, a team is composed of both offense and defense (lets exclude Special Teams). We only played the weaker one of the two in OT. The college OT is light years ahead of the NFL OT.

Yea, so clearly we were not the better team. If we were the better team we would have figured out a way to stop them. We were out coached, and out players made mistakes. That is why Chicago won that game.

Winning the coin toss gives a team too much of an advantage (especially one with a weak D). Using your logic if we were the better team we should have figured out a way to win the coin toss. The NFL OT system is too flawed.

I like what you did there, responding to his counterpoint with the exact same statement again and not even touching on disproving his point.

Nobody has a problem with it until their team loses.

You write like an idiot.
I have always thought the College OT was better than the NFL OT.

I wont argue that. I was just saying that in NFL overtime you cant make any mistakes. So regardless if you have the ball first or not you have to either score or put yourself in a position to get the ball back to try and score. There are no second chances like in the NCAA. Its the NFL...

Like if a Offense made a mistake and then had a chance to rectify it on D?
didn't really think that one out did you?
edit: to elaborate, if you get stopped on offense, you still have a chance to play the other half of your team. If you can't stop them on D, it's game over, and they only have to get within field goal range. Seems like one side has a significant advantage no? What decides this, a coin flip. Something that is not influenced in any way by what matters in football.

No by second chances I mean if the other team scores you dont have the opportunity to try and score and tie or take the lead. maybe I worded it wrong.

it's a pretty common opinion that nfl ot sucks pretty hard.

Winning or losing a playoff implication game like this, basically on a coin toss, is an illegitimate way to determine a winner.

Or your team should play defense and not let them march down the field on their first drive.
