Per the Advocate: Miles: No coaching changes before bowl

For the first time since the rocky regular season ended, LSU coach Les Miles clearly addressed the timing of any potential changes to his defensive coaching staff.
Miles spoke briefly to handful of reporters after he and Athletic Director Joe Alleva ceremoniously accepted an invitation from Chick-fil-A Bowl executives at the LSU Athletic Administration Building.
Asked if anything had transpired in a possible shakeup of his coaching staff, Miles talked about what the coaches are doing now and what they’ll do once the team returns to practice Sunday for the Dec. 31 battle with Georgia Tech at the Georgia Dome.
“You know what our staff is doing? Everything they can to recruit a great class,” Miles said. “They’re on the road constantly. We will return back to prepare a game plan for this bowl game. I will look at and evaluate any considerations beyond this bowl game very quickly. The fact is we’re going to need all our focus from every view to prepare to play well in this bowl game.”
Asked if he was being pressured to make changes, Miles said “No. Not at all.”
As he was about to be ushered away, a final question was lobbed at Miles.
Will there be any changes to the staff before the bowl game?
“No,” Miles said emphatically. “The time to evaluate the year is after we’re done playing. We have a great opportunity to play for our eighth victory in a very significant bowl.”
So despite the Tigers’ defensive struggles this season, co-coordinators Doug Mallory and Bradley Dale Peveto will coach LSU’s defense against Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31.

I sure hope he's secured someone. If not, then we will miss the boat. Other head coaches are now assuming their positions and I'm sure will be hunting for their own d-coordinators. I wonder if Les realizes that GT should be the least of his worries. It doesn't seem that way by the sound of that article.

everyone that is nervous about us getting a new DC can now calm down. we are getting someone and it will be after the bowl game. it's probably already lined up. believe me, les has 3.5 million times more reasons to be worried than you, so chill.

I know this sounds negative, but based on what Miles has said and all of his "avoiding" everything, I don't think he is hiring anyone. Malvetto is here next year.

Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't understand all this stuff. He's pretty new to coaching and somehow stumbled into the LSU gig making $3.5 million.
Maybe you should explain it to him.

Yea, actually he did. If my memory serves me right, LSU wanted about 3 other coaches before him. The top canidates said no, and he said yes. I don't think he was LSU's first choice after Saban left. I call the stumbling into the LSU gig.

Yes, he also stumbled into a National Championship. How many active coaches can say that they have a Nation Championship? Some tiger fans never cease to amaze me.

Why aren't you stumbling into a $3.5 million job? You seem to have all the answers.

You don't have to have the athletic ability to be a QB in the NFL, but you can sure be able to tell when one sucks.

Yep, Winning NCs sure do suck.
The only thing that sucks around here are some of our fans.

Now, that's just crazy talk. Georgia Tech is the next game, and the final game of the season. Above all else, the LSU football program fields a football team. The performance of that team, on a week-to-week basis is the ultimate result of all of the sweat, sacrifice and commitment of resources.
Do you think it would be better for the program if we lose that game, if it guarantees a change in the defensive coaching staff?

And, BAMA had Rich Rod ready for the Press Conference until he changed his mind. They then got a coach to "stumble" into their job.

If you truly can't see that Miles stumbled into the job, then you are blind.
Miles adn Saban on a team's radar is two completely different things.
Bama fans reaction to Saban hire: "YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We're back!!!!!!!!!" (and they are back now)
LSU fans reaction to Miles hire:
"Who the frick is Les Miles?"

That was their same reaction to hiring Saban. Fans are fricking stupid.

It was. You don't get lucky twice, however.
Besides, hiring after a 3-9 season and a pretty fricking terrible decade with a plethora of losing seasons is NOT the same as hiring after winning an NC and having a 9 win season.
The program was in a totally different position to go out and get a qualified coach instead of a guy who made his career on upsetting Stoops.

The Shreveport Times says Peveto is in the top 6 to be considered by NWLA HC. There is speculation that it is Peveto's job to turn down. The AD wants to have the announcement by Webb on the 19th. So, hold on and let's see what happens. It will be a big pay cut, but a chance to be a HC. Maybe one of the TAF members could subsidize his pay for a couple of years.
