Good outboard mechanic

I have a Johnson 88 outboard that is having compression issues on one cylinder and an overheat issue only at high rpm. I'm looking for a good mechanic to fix it.
The entire boat isn't worth but a few hundred dollars so I haven't really considered repowering it. I got it for free from a family member which is why I accepted it in the first place.
Any suggestions?

Those are solid old motors. Overheat is probably in need of just a new impeller/ Water Pump kit and blow out all water passages.
Low compression could be a lot of things- stuck ring, scored cylinder, blown out.
Depends on what part of the state you are in a far as mechanic. But those old OMC are simple to work on, any marine mechanic should be able to at least troubleshoot for you and tell you what it will cost. But with a low compression cylinder be prepared to drop over a G.

Your location would help you get a better recommendation.

Excellent point. Luling, but I'm willing to drive.

Robert Landry in Des Allemands can probably help you out.
