The strategy

I think Willie confuses playing with energy, with being in a complete rush. Big lead but let’srush things as much as possible so we can throw the ball away, force shots, and give them lots of shots in transition. They shot the ball well, but they shot more 3s than they have all season because the looks were too good to pass up.

We've lost our way. We're generating less and less 3 point shots/opportunities as the season progresses and are now generating a season low of 28.3 shots a game for this month.
We peaked on January @34.7 and continued steadily to fall with every passing month. (33.6 in February and 32.7 in March) Our shooting percentages as team has been consistently good but we for whatever reason refuse to emphasize the 3 ball. It's no wonder why teams have been extremely effective defending Zion late in the season.

Its never been a consistent identity for this team. And again falls on the coaching staff. Consistency and stressing this is important. If players pass up open threes-bench them, our style changes with each game with no consequences. The coaching staff has absolutely no consistent game plane or accountability when it comes to this. If someone asked what are the pelicans identity- my best guess is we’re basically 2 stars and role players that play inconsistent without any gameplan.

This is exactly why I started to question the other day if we can tell which assistant makes the game plan based on how the team plays. In the regular season each assistant coach is assigned a game to make the game plan.
I’m pretty sure I can go back through the season and pick out the JB gameplans, Milwaukee being one of them. We moved the ball well, shot 32 3’s even though we weren’t making them, and pulled out the W.
Willie says all the time “we want to shoot 40 3’s a game” but he doesn’t put in the players that will get you there. We need a new guy in that HC seat whether it be JB or someone else.

The loss last night was 100% due to the lack of 3 point shooting. Spurs hit everything and we didn’t even try.
