The movie is great but it is definitely a tear jerker. I didn't see any reviews on it so I figured I would put in my 10 cents.

I have only cried at 2 movies. This was one of them. I read to book.

Spoiler

You know it is coming pretty much the whole movie but it still gets to you, especially if you have a pet or have ever had to put a pet down. Sad stuff but overall a good movie. I wont watch it again without having my dog sit next to me the entire movie.

Dogs dying always gets to me. That and when John Coffey was electrocuted in the Green Mile.

When I read Where the Red Fern Grows in elementary school, I teared up.

we've always had labs in our family...our first black lab was in 1993; yellow in 1996 then our daughter was born in 1998 and a son in 2002. we lost both labs last year and we're on our third (chocolate) right now.

bunch of parallels in the movie and our lives as a family and lab owners.

we just back from the movie and we all cried like little girls :) i've also read the book and i knew the wife was going to totally lose it; not a dry eye in the whole theater.

Saw the movie and really liked it. Wife read the book and told me she liked the movie too.

Yahoo critics gave it a C+

Last time I trust the critics rating on yahoo movies.

The wife won't go to any movie if a dog dies so we won't be seeing it.
