Ordered a loaf of dirt that I could use as good fill dirt where I have washouts from rain when I had my house pad done. Put gutters and have grass but now have dips that need filling. It’s clay with sand mix. It’s clumpy but breaks up real easy when dry. I am thinking put in dips mash it down and once dry, pass box blade over it then use sandy soil to fill uneven surfaces. Any advice on easiest methods. Have front end loader with box blade available.

You need some chain link fence….drag it with a tractor or 4-wheeler. If you need more weight, roll it up and drag the roll.

Guy above me knows his shite, but if I add sand to my clay, it turns to concrete.

It’s not clay that I mixed sand with. It’s a clay/ sandy type dirt. I have regrets getting it now with what I’m trying to accomplish. I told them I wanted something not to sandy but easy to spread and they brought me this. Probably just pushing it to side and not using it.

That’s actually a very desirable type of dirt on farm land. Get a little bit of organic matter mixed in with it and I would say it is “loam”.

I guess I may be jumping the gun. It was very damp when it was shipped to me and it rained on it about two minutes after it was dumped. I am looking at it and don’t know how it will spread. It needs to dry but my mind tells me it will be like spreading frozen peanut butter on bread.

That sounds like more of a clay to me. Just let it dry ont a bit and see of it crumbles at all. My area in central Mississippi has stiff bentonite clay and it will grow grass pretty well if I keep it watered.

Yeah I hear you. It’s hard for me to explain. It’s chunky but it’s wet and was wet when it was delivered as we have had quite a bit of rain. But I grabbed it with my hands and it does have sand in it. In my mind, I’m just upset that it looks so gummy from the moisture and don’t know how easy it will spread when dry or how long it will take to dry. I’m sort of like the kind of person that wants things done yesterday and have a hard time waiting. My yard is my baby and just hate doing things wrong.
