There’s bad news for the Whoniverse today as a new report claims there’s a chance Doctor Who will be axed after its second season, with Disney+ bringing its deal with the BBC to a close.

After last year's 60th anniversary specials, Doctor Who returned earlier this year with Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson leading the series. Behind the scenes, Russell T Davies - who brought the series back from the dead in 2005 to great success - was appointed showrunner and the BBC made a deal with Disney+ to give the show a big budget overhaul and bring it to its largest audience ever.

Actually, this would be really good news.

A couple of the episodes were pretty good, but that how it’s been for awhile now.

I think when Steven Moffet writes the episode then they are good. If you have never seen Heaven Sent then I’d recommend watching it.

Now now, it's not cancelled yet. It's not HALO. Or Willow. Or Batwoman.
Not yet.

Read the deadline article this one summarized and ripped off for clickbait. The disney partnership is uncertain past the already filmed next season. That doesn't mean doctor who goes away.
Also, I finished watching the recent season yesterday. For those who watched it and also like the previous 5 Davies years, I'd love to know what you did not like about this season. The first episode "Space Babies" was incredibly lame, but it was incredibly lame in a way that many other not great Davies episodes from years past are.
If you watched "73 Yards" and didn't like it, I can't imagine what Doctor Who stories you've ever liked. I'd have to assume you're a SEKaiju type who pretends to care about the sanctity of shows he's never considered actually watching. It's just a well-done scifi-tinged horror tale. The last episodes relied too much on an emotional reveal that saves the day, but if you liked the Tenant era, you probably liked that crutch then.
Davies had not changed his writing style for doctor who at all, which is one reason I was critical of his return. The way online types revere his run suggests they remember only the good episodes, and not the majority that were at best silly, and at worst cringeworthy.
But, hey. I'm crazy. I enjoy watching and thinking about a show that I love deeply, warts and all.
And Madking is a fuktard. I don't think this season had the highest ratings ever. It was obviously the lowest. But those lowest ever ratings still made for the highest rated shows of the night in the UK, making it pretty clear that British (and all other English speaking) broadcast television has seriously declining ratings that aren't just a doctor who problem. And a 61 year old show being the BBC's highest rated drama among viewers under 35 is both notable and weird, and that should be considered a positive.

Read what was posted.
"future uncertain"
" there’s a chance"
Note neither I nor the linked article state the show is definitely headed towards the chopping block.
But taking the lack of merch sales and buzz on the internet, it's not looking very bright.

Why is it they get so angry only when it comes to Disney? If Dr. Who had fallen off 15 years ago and someone pointed it out you’d have people saying it’s disappointing but you wouldn’t get this vitriolic fit throwing. Sure is strange don’t you think?

15 yrs ago most of these folks had no clue what Doctor Who even was
They're god damn tourists. Just like with Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Witcher, etc...

That’s right, microwave fans. They know something was popular, they see Disney is rebooting or taking it over so they do a quick wiki skim and poof, they’re the bestest fans everer!! “Omg Disney SW, Dr. Who or whatever else is just peak fire and if you don’t like it you’re like the biggest ist-ist phobe”
What a bunch of wankers

15 years ago was when Tenant ended his run, which was also when Netflix licensed doctor who. It's when most Americans had the ability to see doctor who easily for the first time.
Don't be an elitist prick about a show you've never seen. Especially when talking to and about someone who is no tourist.

OK Mr Wikipedia.
No one can deny the radical shift taken by the show in recent years, and how it has backfired bigly for them.
Wait,what did you say??
I watched from ‘05 to ‘18 tapping out when Doctor Karen showed up.
Blink & Vincent and The Doctor are two of my personal favorite episodes.
So much of what you believe just isn't true.
DVs are just mad because they were owned. Loving it.

How many fantasy/sci-fi franchises does Disney have to emasculate to the point of disinterest until it's recognized as purposeful?
Disney is no longer a business. It's utopian social engineering.
