The newest volume of Captain Marvel has come to an end. Last year saw the release of The Marvels, a sequel to 2019's Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson, as well as a Captain Marvel series by writer Alyssa Wong and artist Jan Bazaldua. The comic premiered ahead of The Marvels and had some similar story beats, like the inclusion of Nega-Bands and body-swapping.

Would have gone straight into a landfill.

How many times has Marvel Comics tried to make the female Captain Marvel happen over the last 4 decades? Quit trying to make fetch happen.

Too many. People want her to be Ms. Marvel, not Captain Marvel.
From my perspective, Captain Marvel will always been the character owned by DC who says "Shazam" to become a superhero.

Memories of watching live action teenaged Billie Batson & his not at all creepy "mentor' driving around the country in a RV....
Yep, just an elderly man and his unrelated young boy companion, alone on the highway, looking for adventure.
Totes normal.

I guess I started taking interest in the character after that. The wizard was always a dude living in a mythical rock when I was reading the comics.

I don't care about Captain Marvel or the Marvels, but what I do hate is the insistence on "corporate synergy" at Disney Marvel. Why do the comics & animated shows need to look like the MCU? It sucks.

I was more interested in the Wizards themselves. What was THEIR backstory? I never stuck around or saw anything on that.

I honestly don't know a lot about the wizards backstory, except for the part where he screwed up and gave Black Adam powers.
