Has anyone ever done this? It is $499 for ten stops all used within 30 days.

Seems like a great way to see the country.

I'd suggest you look at how the lines interconnect, or more importantly, don't.

Houston to Atlanta is a minimum of 34 hours. 9.5 hours to New Orleans. 13 hours from MSY to ATL. The other two routes for that are 66 hours long, inexplicably going from Houston to Longview on a bus, to then head to Chicago, and Charlottesville, before hitting ATL. Huh?

I was researching Houston to ATL or DC a few months ago, and there appear to be weird work restrictions with crossing the Mississippi (or some other illogical union/political BS) that contribute to create ridiculous schedules, and routes.

Based on looking at random-ish routes (DC to Seattle, 70 hours) it seems like your chances of intentional routing negligence appear to increase with North/South movement, outside of the coasts.

These look far cooler and potentially doable.

I went on an Amtrak train 20 years ago ans a field trip and it was a greyhound on rails. I’d much prefer driving to see the county. US trains are for the birds.

Went on Amtrak for a relatively short trip about 8 years ago and don’t think I’ll ever be doing that again

AMTRAK is only fun if you are 65+ or with a bunch of other people.

Plus the motion sickness and swaying are difficult to deal with after.
