Most experts had a definitive top 8 for TEs this year. Week 1 PPR scores for week 1:

LaPorta 8.5
Kelce 6.4
McBride 8.0
Andrews 3.4
Kincaid 2.1
Engram 1.5
Pitts 11.6
Kittle TBD

Probably not much to take from this long-term, but damn is that bad. I'm a guy who always likes to get a TE in this group, and I did in every league this year.

I guess Pitts was actually promising considering how bad Cousins was, but his day was salvaged by a TD.

After Likely and Foster Moreau, there were 0 TEs that scored over 12 pts in our league. Pretty crazy.

Week 1 is always unpredictable and I get a laugh out of the overreactions (not you Bham, just in general).

Imagine if you picked Amon-Ra and followed up with Olave and maybe Kelce in the 3rd round. Season over.

My best roster across my leagues is one of my dynasty rosters. It’s 3 Flex

Burrow
J. Taylor
CMC
Amon-Ra
Aiyuk
Andrews
London
Pittman
Ford/Javonte

In case anyone is wondering, that’s 2 top 5 RBs, top 4 TE and 4 top 20 WRs according to redraft rankings.

7 players have played and I have 47.56 points

ETA: I put Ford/Javonte because I put Ford in last minute. Had I not, I’d have 32 points from 7 starters

I didn't even bother drafting a tight end til the very late rounds (ended up with Bowers) because outside of like 2-3 guys, it's a shitty position and the production difference is minimal.

Not necessarily true anymore. There’s pretty good depth relative to previous years.

Some big names getting a little old but last year had a lot of new talent.

Through 15 games in week 1, there have been 33 passing TDs. I don't know where to get the weekly TD info, but that has to be extremely low.

If I did the math right, adjusting for byes, the average for passing TDs last year was 44.4/week, so 35% more. It was just a bad week for fantasy.

My point is there likely isn't a ton of separation between something like TE5 to TE30 whereas if you compare qb5 to 30 or rb5 to 30 it's huge.

Last year total points:

TE5 Kittle 203.2
TE30 Freiermuth 76.8 difference 126.4

RB5 Mostert 267.7
RB30 Zeke 174.5 difference 93.2

QB5 Love 319.06
QB30 Pickett 110.2 difference 208.86

Last year per game points:

TE5 Andrews 13.5
TE30 Likely 5.9 difference 7.6

RB5 Achane 17.3
RB30 Warren 11.6 difference 5.7

QB5 Dak 20.2
QB30 Mullens 13.3 difference 6.9

TE seems to hold its own in the scenario you laid out.
