For all you canucks or wanna be canucks good documentary on the creation of Canada's band "the hip" is on prime now. Highly recommend it.
Copied from movie board should have posted it here.

I missed a lot of the early hip as I was in La then, my cousins and friends kept raving about them. I nvr saw them until 2000. Put on a great show.
From the csb file, I met Gordon downie after the final concert in small airport in n ontario. Thanked him for the music, said we had a outdoor party for last concert like lots of cdns did. He was appreciative and humble. Little awkward conversation because what do you say to someone going thru a very public terminal cancer experience. Ohh and F cancer

I watched it and very much enjoyed it. I never knew they recorded 2 albums in New Orleans. I loved the Hip and never understood why they didn't take off in the states. I was going to see them in Houston in 95' at a club but they opted to do SNL that weekend and cancelled the show in Houston. Dan Akroyd was on the show that weekend and said he would only do SNL if The Tragically Hip was on. He introduced them. Anybody ever seen them live?

I saw the Hip over 10 times, from a small festival in Columbus, Ohio to their second-to-last show in Toronto on their farewell tour. Great live band, their best shows (in my opinion) were the two times I saw them in 2015 tour when they played the Fully Completely album front-to-back with additional songs before and after the album. A year later, it was over. The crowd after the Toronto show was surreal, just 19,000 very quiet people with a look of resignation streaming out of the ACC after singing their hearts out for two hours.

Saw them at House of Blues in New Orleans 14 maybe 15 years ago. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen. There were maybe 100 people there when they packed stadiums in Canada. They were an excellent band. I say this past tense because it’s one of those bands where when it’s done its done and you leave it be.

We’ve been in Canada the past two weeks and promos/talk of the documentary and the 30th anniversary of the release of Day for Night are on every rock station. I drove on Tragically Hip Way in Kingston, their hometown, getting out of the parking lot in downtown.
