re: Considering a Beretta Silver Pigeon I 20 gauge...

Great gun, just make sure it fits you. I had a 20 ga onyx that didn't fit me well, not the guns fault. Browning ou fit me better
re: Benelli or Beretta?

I'm a beretta guy, I primarily shoot a 25 yr old 391 rather than a400.extrema. I only shoot 3" shells. The beretta just fits me better. I tried to shoot a m2 a cpl of yrs back but just couldn't get comfortable with it even changing shims etc. Both are great find the one you like and fits you. Or as you say get them both ;)

Beretta ax800
Posted by OntarioTiger on 1/8/26 at 10:35 am
Beretta baws
Had a chance to shoot the ax800 at canadas over last week and I really like it. I am a confirmed B gun hunter and use a 391 or a400.
First impressions, points like the 391, fore end narrower than 400. Nice high rib and fits me right w the 55 shim. Does it kick, no. Latest kick off really works and probably helped by long forcing cones. Shot 3" 1500 fps steel and kicked less than 391. Lots of good features taken from tactical crowd, oversized loading port, loading ramp stays up so u dont pinch finger, oversized controls etc
Drawbacks
I'm not sold on polymer receiver w aluminum insides but hey I shoot a 25 yr old 391 w aluminum receiver. Don't really like the open button stock but I can live w it.
Will I buy one, probably just don't tell Mrs ontario.
Btw I tripled on canadas w it so it does shoot if you do your job.
Ohhh and it shoots in the mud and cold

Antamina mine in Peru for work. 15000 plus, felt like I was hungover the whole time. Couldn't sleep, panted constantly. Worst 4 days. At 10k I was fine, walked around cisco no issues.

re: Ever had a family member in a nursing home?
Posted by OntarioTiger on 11/4/25 at 7:01 pm to UptownJoeBrown
My grandmother was in assisted living and when alzheimers got too bad she was moved to nursing home section.
My mom and step grandad were in assisted living.
As others have said you have to do your homework and find good ones. Food and care in assisted living was good, not cheap but good care. Lots of activities and good caregivers.
In Ontario once you go into nursing home it's palliative care, food and care are good but ppl are at deaths door. Nursing home care is covered by provincial health insurance but assisted living is on your nickel.

We use a clothesline constantly, have racks is spare bathroom for under wear etc. Otherwise is on the line. Works in great white north

re: In the market for a new waterfowl shotgun. What do you like?
Posted by OntarioTiger on 9/15/25 at 11:42 am to Pauvetibete
Benelli click is real but I have only seen it when it's really cold and made worse by moisture, snow etc. Only saw it at 10 deg and lower.
Hasn't happened in a400s that I've seen

Broken record time, get a B gun that fits YOU, 28" barrel minimum, i like 30 for the swing. 3.5 is very overrated. I hunt giant canadas a lot and 3" bbs or 2s are lots. With bismuth lots of guides shoot 20s. If money is tight could go w a franchi. Other options are benelli m3 or beretta 300, they are 3" guns. My favorite duck gun is my 391, almost 25 yrs.old and points like a dream. Had to change a recoil spring last year otherwise no issues

Gonna sound like a broken record on all my Shotgun recs. Find a b gun that fits you best and buy it.
Maybe consider a franchi or stoeger but I don't have any experience w them.
For example benelli is a great gun, just doesn't fit me as well as a beretta, so I shoot beretta semis ...
