Can’t remember if ever I’ve seen another movie like this.
It’s a French movie that takes place in Eastern Europe. It follows a French diplomat as he stays with the family of of a nobleman who recently died.
It’s a vampire story of sorts. For all intents and purposes, it’s a vampire with a very unique Slavic twist.
This certainly isn’t a traditional horror movie if it should even be considered a horror movie at all. I saw some people just say it’s a drama.
It’s a very slow and deliberate pace that you see in movies from the 1970s. The movie is beautiful but it also looks like the cameras used are from the 1970s. It almost looks like one of those AI trailers for movies in the 70s.
It is pretty weird. The vourdalak is super cool.
People trying to approach the movie in a logical way will probably be disappointed, but I really dug it. It’s so dreamy and so much like a fairytale that everything that happens seems inevitable
Here’s the trailer. I’d recommend not watching the trailer because there are spoilers though

Also, the main actress is very nipply. The dress she’s wearing is a bit tight.

Was looking for a period piece to watch, saw your review, and gave it a whirl.
I enjoyed it. Your review was spot on. Very nice cinematography with the 70’s camera vibe.

It feels so authentic
And I thought it was such a unique way of looking at how love kills. And the voice of the Voirdalak was so soothing
