My thread a week or two ago about bucket hunts had a ton of responses about Elk hunting in the West. Being that I live in Colorado and hunt Elk every year made me realize I’m blessed.

If any of yall that read this ever want to make the trip out, I can give you all the advice I have. Consider me a resource. I’d love to help, if not actually accompany you.

Just putting it out there, cause I know how daunting public land Western hunting can be. I want to be a good baw. I can’t say I know all the honey holes or where big bulls tend to be, but a little experience from a local is better than no experience. I know for sure I can help with logistics.

I can’t help this year as I have a glory tag myself, but starting next year if anybody wants to start planning logistics or has questions about where to go I’m happy to help.

I’ve also got points with hunts on the horizon in Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Arizona. Idaho and New Mexico are random so can’t plan until I draw there.

Let me know anyone, I’d love to help where I can. Again, do not expect Guide level advice from me, just making that clear. But if you need a TD baw as a contact I’m happy to help.

I may take you up on that, trying to figure out what I’m doing next year. You got a way I can contact you?

I'll absolutely take you up on that. Next year will be our 5th year, and we haven't put eyes on an elk we could shoot at yet. Moose, bear, mule deer, etc every time we go in the woods, just no elk.

I ain't too proud to beg at this point. We've spent a total of 40 days on the moutain. Climbing, freezing, hiking, coverering mileage, etc. Its damn hard to do when you drop in from 1400 miles out with 11 days to get it done and no idea what to do.

Do you mule deer hunt? I have an itch for a big mule deer over an elk currently.

CO

Been buying Wyoming points for me and the kids. Going to save that trip for when I have the money to make it a good one.

Cashed in 14 Wyoming elk points. Killed a small six point yesterday afternoon. Solo DIY, public land.

Congratulations!

Solo diy public bull elk is the ultimate accomplishment.

Congratulations! That’s awesome.

I have 13 pts and an outfitter told me for certain areas of quality bulls, 14 is the new minimum.
