thats what the cat on ESPN2 just said talking about Charlie Strong..
just once, i would like one of these frickers to actually call out exactly who they believe to be racist..
im not saying their arent racist in the south, i know plenty of them.. but the most hate filled racist man i know has spent his entire life in Ohio..
and if there are racist amongst the CFB elite, then lets name some names and get those bastards out of there..

MIAMI -- Florida Gators defensive coordinator Charlie Strong believes race is a reason he hasn't been offered a head-coaching job during his 25 years in college football, a newspaper reported Tuesday.
Waiting for chance
Strong, a 48-year-old black man, shook his head affirmatively when an Orlando Sentinel reporter asked him if his interracial marriage was a factor in getting passed over for jobs, including one at a Southern school a few years ago. Strong, whose wife is white, said he heard that too many times for it to be rumor.
"Everybody always said I didn't get that job because my wife is white," Strong said at media day Monday, as the Gators prepare to face Oklahoma in the FedEx BCS National Championship Game. "If you think about it, a coach is standing up there representing the university. If you're not strong enough to look through that [interracial marriage], then you have an issue."
There are seven black coaches at the nation's 119 major football schools, also known as the Bowl Subdivision, after four were hired in December.
NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley said last month that "race was the No. 1 factor" why Auburn chose Iowa State coach Gene Chizik over Buffalo coach Turner Gill. Gill, who is black, also is married to a white woman, and ESPN later reported that two Southeastern Conference coaches said Gill got passed over for the job partly because of his interracial marriage.
Strong had a message for those who hold his wife's skin color against him.
"She makes no calls and she plays no defense," Strong said.

Sucks? Figured you Twins fans would be happy that old miser would be gone.

I don't see a whole lot of black head coaches in any conference, so singling out the SEC is absurd.
Look, the SEC is the top conference for hiring coaches. We get the best of the best, and pay the most amount for our coaches. You have to work your way up the ranks to get the SEC gig. Since the other conferences aren't hiring black coaches, it means none make it to the peak.

Sounds like a great way to land himself a job. Show everyone your angry black man syndrome and cause potential employers to worry about a law suit if they fire you for going 9-27 over three years.
As far as this nonsense about racism in the South....how many black coaches are getting hired up North?

if they arent being hired for that reason, that is bullshite.. if someone out there knows that for a fact and knows who is calling the shots and they are not speaking up, that is even greater bullshite.. but for fricks sake, stop with this racism in the south bullshite.. i am of the opinion that racism in the south is less prominent than in the rust belt, i travel to Michigan and Ohio pretty often, and in no way is racism any better up there..

I would even venture to say racism is worse in the North. People are actually divided by their nationality much more up North instead of just being White down south.

exactly.. im not calling these guys liars though.. if they say they've encountered racism, i dont doubt it.. its not hard to tell when someone is acting 'weird' towards you.. im just saying, lets name the damn names get those fricking rednecks out of their positions of authority... doesnt do any fricking good to make blanket statements like.. 'i was told i didnt get the job because my wife is white' or 'racism still exist in the south'.. i mean, racism still exist in fricking Brazil too.. did i make it any better by stating it though?

In my brief experience racism seems more prevalent in the south. For instance, the bars here don't allow people to wear jerseys, head bands, white t's, and some other crap I had no idea about until I heard of it from a friend. Now why exactly does a bar need rules like that?
When I attended Ohio University, my class got in to a very interesting discussion about the civil war and my friend, who is originally from Georgia, started talking about how that subject wouldn't even get touched in the south because of all the sensitivity around it. I'm not saying racism isn't everywhere, because I grew up with some idiots in Ohio who are incredibly racist, it just seems to be more openly noticeable in the South.

I don't agree that there is much racism...people will hire who they think will win games

To take Charlie's complaints a little bit further, he has apparently said that he thinks his mixed-race marriage is a big factor in him not getting a head coaching job. He backed off those comments a few days ago in a presser but this guy is drinking the Jackson kool-aid.
He obviously hasn't gotten a job b/c he isn't the best option for the universities that didn't hire him. Win at all costs. I would have Sloth from "Goonies" as head coach if it meant winning.

It just seems like the circumstances keep changing.
first, its that not enough black coaches aren't getting jobs.
Then, its that the jobs aren't good enough...there arent enoug BCS jobs being had.
Now, its that the guys that didn't get jobs are passed over because a completely different prejudicial reason..interracial marriage.
I'm kind of over the whole thing...like someone said previously...its not a racial thing...its who universities win games...Obviously some of those schools (auburn) have completely different opinions on who can actually win them games.
