History: Conquistador by Barry Levy. Cortez and his conquest of the Aztecs is fascinating. Author reads the book.
Crime: Wiseguy or Casino by Nicholas Pileggi. He also wrote the screenplays.
Autobiographies: Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie and/or With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge. These two books were used as the basis for The Pacific.
