The federal government isn’t good at much. Getting fleeced is something they are great at.

Jacob Kingston and his family bilked the US gov out of hundreds of millions promising biofuels. Very little fuel was ever produced.
Those concerned about the pause (it’s a pause) should simmer down and start to explore how much money is so easily stolen from tax payers.

Stolen is a strong word.
Idk the specifics of this case, but i do know that often the government will approach procurement in a "we're going to spend this money with you or someone else" mindset, even though they don't state it that way.
I have been told before "we have plenty of money, i don't care what it costs, quote us exactly what we asked for." So, of course the cost ends up being exorbitant for some gizmo they'll never actually use, and ultimately the taxpayer gets fleeced. We look greasy for quoting it, but we tried to talk them down, and either they bought it from us or they bought it from someone else, and we don't dare face upper management with the knowledge we could've gotten this work but our conscious wouldn't let us.
So, again I'm not familiar with this particular case and none of this may be applicable here, but government procurement as a whole is a total massive gigantic cluster frick.

Every person, in whatever capacity, that has taken federal dollars and failed to produce should take notice.
It wasn't free money, @sshat. . . it came from the people.

The federal government isn’t EFFICIENT at anything.
We are good as some stuff. Like being an elite military.
But every single thing we do, including the military, costs more than it needs to.

The government can be efficient. Some aspects of it work really well. There are some small teams within the overarching machine who are damn good at what they do, and they actually do move pretty quickly. They get funding approved, don't waste money, etc. There's lots of that within government and those people are pleasant to work with. What sucks is the "we got approval so we gotta spend it" part of it. That stuff sucks for the taxpayers.

These should all be LONG flat time sentences, no parole, and they should be put with the boys.
